I’ve stayed in Paris many times and I don’t understand the bad reviews for this hotel. Yes the rooms are small compared to American hotels. Yes, it needs a touch of updating. But for Paris, the hotel is quite nice. For the price, I was absolutely thrilled staying here for a week for business as a single female. I felt safe and well taken care of. The location is just a couple of minutes from two major train stations and it’s only 2 stops to the tourist district (Latin quarter). It’s a small hotel - about 50 rooms. Everything worked. It’s quiet. The highlight though was the staff. I met three persons in the lobby and the one of the housekeeping staff and all were extremely polite, helpful, and made sure I was comfortable and taken care of. They even knew my name by the end of the week. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Mercure by name but not by nature. It felt like an independent hotel that had been taken over by the chain and was slowly going through a rebrand. The room was small but clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very good with a lovely rainforest shower but frosted glass partitions were all that separated it from the main bedroom. The air conditioning did not work properly so I slept badly due to waking up from overheating - I run at a high temperature so like my rooms cool. Having said that the staff were friendly and the location is ideal for central Paris sightseeing or catching a train from Gare de Nord station.
