We spent 3 nights here last week and a very nice stay it was indeed. Check in was very easy and the front desk staff very helpful and polite, we even got in to our room early. We had a room with 2 double beds and the room itself was big and had all that you would expect to find. We had breakfast on the 3 mornings and we all agreed it was the best hotel breakfast we have ever had, and we have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years !! A wide and varied choice of cereals, bread, pastries, cooked food, pancakes, ham, cheeses ,fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and much more besides, something for everyone, and the staff again were very helpful. It was my daughters 18th birthday while we were there and i had pre ordered a chocolate birthday cake and some macarons which were delivered to our room exactly when we had asked, again fantastic service, my daughter says the highlight of her trip was the chocolate cake ..... it was lovely. Would i recommend this hotel, absolutely .. and we are planning another trip to Paris in the new year and we will certainly be staying here again. The Republique metro station is only a few feet from the hotel which is so handy and the selection of bars, cafes and restaurants in the area are numerous. So go on, if you want a hotel which has everything and is within walking distance to all the major attractions then book this one, you will not be disappointed, and let me say a big thank you to all the staff who made our stay very memorable and we look forward to returning very soon.

“Good value for Paris”

The Crown Plaza at Pl. de la Republic is a good value for Paris. We chose it because of our good experience with IHG properties in other European cities. The hotel was very nice, with very well kept rooms/facilities and excellent staff/service. Our room was especially good, with high ceilings and huge windows (at the west end of the hotel, 4th floor). The bed was very comfortable, the HVAC quiet and effective, and there was plenty of space in the room for unpacking luggage and relaxing. The only area which could be improved was the bathroom which did not have a single towel bar. The bath only has 2 clothes hooks, which do not work well if you want to dry out a bath towel for reuse. The shower is more than big enough for a towel bar opposite the shower head, and one over the commode would also be nice for hanging smaller towels or a toiletry bag. See pics for where these bars could be installed for guest convenience. The location is good/bad depending on what you doing in Paris. One upside of the location is a wide selection of brasseries, boulangeries, etc. all within a few blocks. I recommend Valma Brasserie Provençale (2 blocks away) for very well prepared and delicious food, and Cafe Pierre for late night snacks and drinks (less smoky and better for us slightly older folks who are not looking for loud and rowdy). Valma was our favorite brasserie from our stay in Paris. The hotel is also convenient in that there is a metro station directly outside the main entrance, and taxis are always available 1/2 block to the left or right. The downside of being next to the Metro is the presence of detritus and homeless folks, but it's no better/worse than other plaza's in central Paris. On Sunday morning, evidence of over-exuberance was evident along the sides of the building. Please note that Pl. de la Republic can be a bit noisy as it's one of the traditional places to hold public protests in Paris. Our windows were very effective at blocking the sound, so it did not disturb us at all. On Sunday's there is a big flea market if that's your thing. I found the prices to be a bit high unless you enthusiastically bargain. The other thing to mention about the location is that it's a bit further from most of the big tourist attractions (Louvre, Orsay, Notre Dame, Eiffel tower). It took us 20-25 min to reach the major tourist attractions (same whether by metro, ride sharing, or taxi). On the plus side, this meant the room rate was quite a bit less than a hotel of similar quality near the Seine. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Crown Plaza as a good value for Paris visits.

“Disappointing ”

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights recently. I am an above knee amputee and had informed the hotel of this fact well in advance of our arrival. They said that they had an appropriate room for me. However on entering the room it was obvious that this was not the case. Firstly there was only one hand rail next to the toilet instead of the usual two.The toilet roll was located too far away from the toilet even for an able bodied guest to reach.The mirror was located in the left hand corner of the room which was very poorly lit making shaving almost impossible.Additionally.the soap dispenser was located in an awkward position on the wall making access difficult. Bizarrely.the bed was pushed right up against one of the walls making access impossible for a disabled guest and difficult for a non-disabled. I do not think that these facilities could be described as disabled- friendly and the situation did unfortunately spoil our enjoyment of our stay.
