I stayed at the Citadines Place d’Italie for 12 nights, including six nights before my husband flew to Paris. This was the first time that we had stayed in an apartment or apartment hotel. Arrangement We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment. Upon entering, there was a hallway with closets to the right. The hallway led to the bedroom in the back. The hallway on the left led to a small room for the toilette and next was the bathroom. At the end of the hallway was one room for the kitchenette and living room. The bedroom was the size of a typical European bedroom with a double bed. Either side of the bed had a small table and an outlet. In fact, there were several outlets in the apartment. The bedroom had a dresser with three drawers and a closet. The closet area in the hallway consisted of a closet for clothes, a closet with shelves and another closet. The latter had an iron and ironing board. The toilette consisted of only the toilet. To wash our hands, we had to go to the bathroom. The bathroom was modern and had a combination shower/tub. The sink had drawers underneath. There were some shelves to the left of the mirror for towels. We used two shelves for our personal items. The bathroom had two hair dryers. In addition, the sink area had a gel for the hands and the shower/tub had gels for hair and body. The kitchenette had a two-burner stove, a microwave, and an under-the-counter refrigerator and dish washer. Dishes, glasses and cutlery were provided. A small table had four chairs. The living room area had a television and a sofa with two pullout beds. Breakfast We did not avail ourselves of the breakfast. Instead, my husband went to a local patisserie and we had the free coffee from a machine in the lobby. Noise Level We had no problems with outside noise. We were on the 7th floor (8th floor in the U.S.). The apartment must have been at the back, as we overlooked a Hippopotamus Restaurant. Laundry Facilities A laundry room with two small washing machines and a dryer was on the premises. An app that was needed to use the machines was free and easy to use. Location The location is excellent, within five minutes of the Place d’Italie Metro station, which has three Metro lines, 5, 6 and 7. There are also buses in the area. Line 5 leads to the Bastille area, line 6 to the RER B and the Eiffel Tower, and line 7 to the Louvre Museum and the Palais Garnier opera. HINT: Upon returning to the Citadines, take the Blanqui exit from the Metro, as it has an escalator to the top. Neighborhood Getting safety out of the way. The neighborhood is safe and we did not feel uncomfortable. I am a petite, 78-year-old woman and traveled alone for the first six days. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants. Next door is Italie 2, the Place d’Italie mall, which has a Carrefour grocery store, an Orange store (where I bought an adapter), a Paul patisserie, a Starbucks, clothes boutiques, home décor stores and some stores that reminded me of Target, and places to eat, including the Hippopotamus Restaurant. It is an ordinary neighborhood with lots of places to eat, pharmacies, patisseries and retail stores. It is not a “cute” neighborhood that is seen in the movies. The nearby Buttes aux Cailles neighborhood is the only “tourist destination” that I am aware of. Cons The apartment is plain without décor It is also not brand-new and modern. I’m only mentioning this because some people want a certain atmosphere where they stay. It did not matter to us. The tub was rather high and at 5’2” (1.524 + meters) I had to hold on to something to get in and out. Other I am regularly on the Trip Advisor forum and will see your message if you have additional questions.

This place is centrally located in more of a locals environment. Trains station is a 3 minute walk. Grocery stores and mall are conveniently around the corner as well as restaurants, Patisserie's and fast food (if you're into that stuff when you travel). Checkin was easy and they did speak English. Our room was on the 4th floor. Everything is pretty quiet at night once everything closes down. We had no problems sleeping. Our Room: We had 2 twin beds, a table to eat at, a decent closet, a small utility kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, a small dishwasher, a sink with all the little necessities to function. I loved that the window opened for fresh air. There are plugs on each side of the bed for charging as well as at the table where there is a wall mounted 32" tv. The beds and sheets were comfortable (it's been a while since I've slept on a twin). The room was clean, in good shape and a good price. Our Bathroom: There is a wall heater if needed for towels, there are 2 drawers to accommodate towels, a small blowdryer, they supply bottles of shampoo, shower gel, and hand soap. A shower over tub which is decent size and a retractable laundry cord. The Lobby: Coffee maker available also a filtered water dispenser that has sparkling water which caught me a lil off guard. There's a utility room that you have access to where linen, toilet paper and any other replacement items you may need for your stay. The utility room does require key access. They have a buffet available for a minimal uncharge; coffee, pastries, hardboiled eggs, toast, the usual fair. Nothing fancy like a pool or anything but definitely a place I would consider when coming back.

The location was ideal. Steps from the metro station and on the outskirts of a traffic circle with cafes and bars to choose from. Staff we thoughtful. We were in Paris for our anniversary. They had a small bottle of champagne and a card for us when we arrived in our room. They had laundry facilities and used the WeWash app so if you are travelling outside Europe or with an e sim download the app ahead of time. Alternatively you can ask reception to start the machines for you and it will be charged to your room. $5 Euro to wash and $4 Euro to dry. The room was ok. The bathroom very small and awkward. Our fan wasn’t working so it was very hot. I asked for it to be fixed and it wasn’t. The answer was to open the window. Not ideal if you can’t sleep with the noise. You need your card to enter the hotel lobby so there is enhanced security. Finding value in accommodation in Paris seems rather difficult. This place was acceptable considering the options out there. Basic accommodation with no frills and no daily cleaning service. We didn’t try the breakfast.

“Could have been great!”
The location of this hotel was so nice. And the 1 bed apartment is so nice and spacious. However my room bath/shower was in need of serious maintenance. The showerhead was falling off and the shower itself falling apart. I mean I’ve never stayed in a room this damaged, and very disappointed in that.
