“Too tiny for the exorbitant price”

I understand Paris is expensive. But to be paying for a matchbox sized room with dysfunctional bathroom & no balcony, was just disappointing. We were there for my sister’s 40th birthday. I understand Paris is expensive. But to be paying for a matchbox sized room with dysfunctional bathroom & no balcony, was just disappointing. We were there for my sister’s 40th birthday. Nothing special. The unlimited cappuccino is best avoided. The complimentary wine is below average. The breads kept at the make-shift reception need to be fresh, or maybe replace that area with a small couch for guests to sit comfortably till the slow checkin process.

We stayed at Chouchou for 4 nights for our honeymoon. The hotel is well located, and the decor is really good. We liked the bains, and thought this added something special to our stay, the staff were mostly very pleasant, especially the concierge, who was exceptional. Mostly the staff were very accommodating, although we got a bit of snarkiness a few times when we asked for something - we are very low maintenance so this surprised me. For Paris, the room was large, as was the bathroom. There were free pastries in reception each day. Upon arrival at 4pm, our room wasn’t ready. We were offered a drink, although we didn’t have to wait for long. The room was very hot, there is air conditioning, although this is centrally controlled. We asked if we could control our own and were told no (three times). In my opinion, there is no point in air conditioning in the room if someone else is controlling the temperature. The staff’s solution was to ‘open the window’ - not doable during New Years if you’re trying to sleep and people are partying until 4/5 in the morning. One morning one of the staff started crashing around next to our room (cleaning cupboard maybe) at 6.15, this carried on for 30 minutes and meant by the time they’d finished I was wide awake. We had to ask each day for water and tea to be replenished. One day we went out early in the morning, leaving the ‘service the room’ tag on the door, we returned at 3.45pm to find our room hadn’t been cleaned and towels not replenished, we called down to say we’d be back out at 5pm and they said they couldn’t help us as room cleaning finished at 4pm. We then had to ask them to bring more towels, take away dirty cups etc as they weren’t going to bother. This was all handled very awkwardly. This wasn’t the cheapest option and we came out of it wishing that we’d tried somewhere else, which is disappointing as it was our honeymoon. This could be such an amazing little hotel, but the housekeeping element let it down, also the air conditioning situation is pretty disappointing - if I choose to stay somewhere with aircon then it is because I want to choose the temperature.

“Small small room for top price.”

Too small room for tp price. Great location though. Could,nt walk beside bed. Staff friendly. Little noisy because of hotelbar.

For the price paid, it was very disappointing. Nothing in the room mini bar to purchase and no room service after midnight even though the downstairs bar acts like a disco until 12.30pm…not a practical choice if you are in Paris for an event like a concert which goes beyond the hours of most restau… more
