“nice hotel”

Nice hotel with a wonderful location. Very close to amenities. I stayed in a single room which was small, but enough. I used the hotel just for shower, sleep and breakfast. All of them was nice. Breakfast was enough, but you can get better breakfast at the same price elsewhere.

This is a charming intimate French hotel located in a lively neighborhood of restaurants and shops. The front desk staff was friendly and attentive; they remembered my room number and recommended good restaurants. The decor is charming. My spotlessly clean room was the perfect size with a bathroom that had a long white embroidered curtain. Significantly, the bed linens and the towels were made of a high-quality cotton. Breakfast was delicious and served in a lovely stone room. Don't hesitate to book here.

“Small but very adequate for a short trip”

Room was dated (as expected so not really a negative) but very clean and bathroom was modern with a good shower. Both the room (room 302 for info) and bathroom were extremely small with not much storage and not many surfaces. We’d have struggled if staying any longer than a few nights. We were two friends so hoping for a twin room. Although unsurprising that this was not available (it was Taylor Swift weekend so full booked as you’d expect!) we weren’t expecting to have to share a queen size bed - it was VERY cosy and we’re pretty small people! We may have been unlucky with our room allocation as we peeked in to 2 others on our floor whilst they were being cleaned and they were much bigger. We had a separate toilet (just a toilet, no sink) and shower room, which was fine but again, both were tiny - barely room to do anything but stand and not really anywhere to store toiletries. As the building is old it was unsurprising that the plumbing was quite loud and the corridors were very creaky but we had a front facing window and the noise from the street in the evening was a lot and went on quite late so bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper. Other pros were: -lovely friendly and helpful staff -good wifi -excellent number and location of plug sockets Other cons or things to be aware of: -no iron, fridge or tea/coffee making facilities -tiny wardrobe -terrible hair dryer -area and surroundings felt quite insalubrious at night -very small old fashioned lift which wasn’t a problem for us but probably not ideal for claustrophobic people!

Together with my wife, I spent four days in Lyon. We stayed at Grand Hotel Des Terreaux, Lyon, France. The location of the hotel was good. We booked through hotels.com. Our room (standard double; N° 208) was definitely smaller than expected (17 sqm according to hotels.com). The bed was possibly a queen size one, which took up most of the room. The bathroom was small, but equipped with nice bathrobes. The safety box was too small for an ordinary laptop. Friendly staff at reception. The room was well cleaned. Breakfast was OK. This is a fair tourist class hotel, but not what could be expected from a "Grand Hotel". Overall impression: Rather expensive, without giving value for money. I suggest a cheaper hotel in order to spend more money at one of Lyon´s several restaurants.
