What a great experience! Our room was absolutely stunning, with lots of space and an incredible view of the port. That alone would be an ideal reason to stay here. But beyond that, the staff at the hotel are truly exceptional. Sorna, who helped us check in, was particularly a star. She was so kind to my children, went the extra step to identify that I was actually a rewards member (I forgot I was one!) who should receive points for our stay, and fixed the taxes to reflect that some of our party were children. She treated us like family and remembered us throughout the stay by name. An absolute star. The restaurant had amazing food and views for dinner and breakfast. The location was so convenient. Marseille is such a magical and fun place - we will definitely be back!

“Luxury hotel in the heart of Marseille”

Really recommend this hotel. It's in a great location just a 5 minute walk from the port, which has loads of great bars and restaurants. Really recommend this hotel. It's in a great location just a 5 minute walk from the port, which has loads of great bars and restaurants. The hotel building is spectacular, with so much historical character. Inside is ultra modern and comfortable. Our room was spacious with plenty of storage space and a great bathroom with separate shower and WC. The staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay with recommendations for activities, transport and restaurants. Breakfast on the terrace was a real treat each morning.

Location. Location. Location. Situated high above Marseille, overlooking the wondrous city, is a scene to connect your senses. The guest rooms with front views show the magnificent Basilica and the evening lighting is spectacular. Go to the Concierge’s for everything, especially Erwin. He brilliantly located the return of my husband’s medical walker, misplaced by Lufthansa. That effort alone saved our trip. Kudos. The decor, outlets, spa and pool were excellent. Friendly staff always eager to please.

This hotel is undeniably beautiful, housed in an 18th-century former hospital overlooking the old port. However, several inconsistencies marred our experience, and the surrounding area of Marseille felt unsafe. We were approached several times by people near the hotel, and I was even propositioned with my 10-year-old daughter right next to me. Upon check-in, the front desk attendant, whose name I believe was Sorna, was superb and gave us a warm welcome. As an IHG member, I was given a password for the internet but only had access to the free, unsecured WiFi on our phones and iPads. We had to pay for faster, secured internet. Our room was lovely, though the decor wasn’t to my taste. It was large and had a glorious view. However, we couldn't open the balcony doors and had to call for help. It took 10 minutes to get them closed later. I assume they are original, but they are just too difficult to use. On our first night, unsure where to dine and it already being early evening, we went to the terrace and were recommended to order pizza from the bar. After discussing with staff how my daughter didn't want pizza, we reviewed the brasserie menu and chose the €50 lamb as it was the only suitable option. While waiting, we were given a bar menu but told we couldn't take a drink to the brasserie. This meant I would have to order and then rush to finish it. The dinner was overpriced and mediocre, though the server, Penelope, was excellent. When my daughter didn't like any dessert, Penelope offered a brownie from the kids' menu, which we hadn't been informed of during our 10-minute discussion with the brasserie staff. We complained to the concierge but never heard back. Breakfast service was slow and the food dissapointing. On the first day, I had to get up and ask for coffee after 15 minutes, and the second coffee was forgotten for 20 minutes, even though others received theirs. We were charged €35 each, although my daughter only had a croissant. An email to the concierge about kids' breakfast pricing went unanswered three times. The toilet didn’t flush properly. We called for instant service, which took several minutes and no one came. After multiple attempts, we managed to flush it. We called again the next day, and someone finally came to repair it. Room service lunch was wonderful. The Caesar salad was delicious and beautifully presented, including anchovies and olives, and my daughter enjoyed her big nugget and fries. Before a boat trip, I informed the front desk of our room number, the company (Blue Evasion), and our expected return time. The staff looked at me as if I was crazy and didn't write anything down. The boat trip was a nightmare. When we returned, the concierge said she would call them, but we never heard back. The company claimed they left a message with the hotel, which we never received. When we returned to our room, the balcony doors were open, despite us leaving them closed for security and to avoid the hassle of closing them again. We were told it was part of the turn-down service. Starting the bathtub resulted in water squirting everywhere, soaking the back of the tub and the floor, and wetting my book. Most of the towels were used to clean up. Someone came that day to repair it. I couldn't connect my computer to any WiFi that evening. After calling instant service three times, I was given a different link and password. The second breakfast was indoors due to rain and had improved service. I still didn't know if there was kids' pricing. The pool requires booking 1-hour slots. At the pool, we asked if we could stay for two hours and were told "maybe." Unsure of what that meant, we stayed for 1 hour 15 minutes. The path to the pool is convoluted, involving two elevators and a long corridor. One day, the waterfall and jets were off, and we had to ask upstairs twice to turn them on. Pool access seems restricted to allow last-minute bookings instead of letting us book multiple slots. The next day, room service was difficult to reach. After calling the front desk, I was told to call back as they were unavailable. When I did get through, I was told the person wasn't at room service and would call me back. When she did, I asked about kids' pasta but was told it wasn't available. They offered arrabbiata pasta, but it was too spicy for my daughter. I ordered nuggets and fries for her again and a Caesar salad with chicken for myself. They called back 10 minutes later to confirm the salad order. The salad arrived without chicken and without the Coke Zero and two glasses of ice I had requested. They said they couldn't remove the cost of the chicken but brought two Coke Zeros without cups of ice. The chicken nuggets had a spicy red powder, and the salad was different from the day before, missing anchovies and olives, with a different dressing. It wasn't great. The hair dryer didn't work properly (kept turning on and off), but I didn't want to call for another issue, so I left my hair wet. I felt like nothing was going smoothly and all I was doing was calling "instant service" several times a day. I spoke to the concierge about the boat trip the next evening. She hadn't contacted me because she thought the refund resolved everything. I explained that wasn’t the point and that I never received the company's call to me after the failed excursion. I have no idea what happened there but I expected her to follow up if she said she would. Dinner was pizza at the bar, but they brought my daughter a cheese pizza with yellow cheese instead of the margherita with no olives (fresh mozzarella) we ordered, which she didn't like. She ate the pizza by removing all the yellow cheese. At the pool, we were told an aqua aerobics class was happening, so we couldn't have the jets and waterfall on. However, when we got there, they were on and one lady was swimming. I didn't know aqua aerobics was even an option. Room service again was disappointing. The chicken nuggets and fries came without bread, glasses, or plates, and the water was sparkling instead of still. The ice bucket had no utensil to scoop the ice, so I used the back of a knife. Overall, the hotel staff were pleasant, but the numerous issues, lack of effective communication, inconsistencies, and mediocre food made our stay frustrating and disappointing.
