“Good room...”

Hotel that is well located, does not have parking but nearby you get a cheap one for the whole night, clean room and bathroom, breakfast was varied. It is close to the castle and some points of interest, the reception staff was friendly and gave some tips to visit.

“Not a romantic hotel but it ticks all the other boxes”

We had a two-night stay in the Continental while exploring the historical part of Angers. The bed was comfortable, there is a bath and a shower over it. The breakfast was good, staff at the reception is friendly and helpful. A couple of minutes from the historical attractions.

“Super Location”

Stayed two nights and really enjoyed the central location - within easy walking of all the sights. There is a drop off parking space just across the street then you can either pay to park at Ralliment around the corner (€10 for 24 hours I think) or free parking by the river 12 minutes walk away. ... more

Stayed two nights and really enjoyed the central location - within easy walking of all the sights. There is a drop off parking space just across the street then you can either pay to park at Ralliment around the corner (€10 for 24 hours I think) or free parking by the river 12 minutes walk away. The room on the 3rd floor was quite small but clean and the wifi worked well. Bathroom was a good size with a powerful shower. Breakfast was good and served in a bright room off reception. Staff are friendly and helpful. Some restaurants are closed due to Covid and others shut on Mondays but we found good places to eat nearby.

Le Continental Hotel is well located in the centre of Angers with tourist sites and monuments less than 10 minutes away. It is 90 minutes from Paris by TGV, or, in our case, about an hour and 10 minutes by taxi. There is a multi-level, below ground parking lot approximately 50m from the front entrance of the hotel costing 2 euros for overnight stay and then regular rates from 9am. The tram is only a couple of steps away and is a great way to get around. When you buy a ticket it lasts for an hour's worth of travel. Le Continental has a free, closed, secure place for bicycles if required. (Note however, that It does incur a 8 euro fee without a prior reservation). We received a friendly welcome when we arrived on 18th March and were allocated room 101- a good fair sized room with twin beds and overlooking a small, quiet street. The hotel has 25 air-conditioned rooms, nicely decorated. We had a bathroom with shower,a shaver and hair dryer ( '2 pin') points. I didn't take an adaptor but was kindly supplied with one from reception. There is WIFI with a password code, TV, alarm clock and a dry cleaning service for a fee if needed. All rooms are non-smoking and a lift is available to rooms. My only disappointment (but expected), was no room tea/coffee facility. I do love a cup of tea when I return to a room after sightseeing! The beds were very comfortable with nice, soft duvets, so we enjoyed a good nights sleep. Breakfast was good - organic and local, costing 10 euros in the breakfast room or 11 euros if you prefer to have it in your bedroom. Hot drinks and fruit juices are on offer with pastries, yogurts, ham, cereals, eggs (boil your own in an interesting machine), cheeses and fresh fruit. Loved the croissants! The breakfast room is light and airy with views over the street. This hotel is the first one in Angers to have obtained the European Ecolabel (protecting the environment). It is committed to reflecting this in their practices. Some examples are low energy bulbs, pressure relief valves on faucets and hand showers, choice of cleaning products 100% Ecolabel, no individual packaging and selective sorting and increased waste recycling Le Continental Hotel itself, was built in the late 1890s and never ceased being a hotel which is quite unusual. The edifice includes the back part of a small mansion built in the second half of the 18th century. The original building has been modified a few times over the years. A small, fancy garden terrace was removed in 1936 and replaced with a new covered floor. The original doorway was in front of the building which you could see as you walked up the street, but the entrance is now relocated on the side. The tuffeau stone facing is retained (an Anjou feature), with a lovely “1900”style. In the 1930s, the owner added the monumental mosaic inscription at the top of the building: ” Hôtel Continental “. It is thought that it was probably made by the mosaic artist Isidore Odorico. The hotel has been owned by Mr. and Mrs. Pollet since 1999 during which time they have made several improvements which include the renovating of the 25 rooms into a warm, contemporary style. We stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. Staff were very helpful and it certainly had a warm and friendly atmosphere. Would stay again! :
