“Excellent ”

We stayed at this excellent hotel on our way to Spain. Our room was fantastic... spacious and super clean. The WiFi speed impressed us, and there were enough sockets to recharge our devices. We stayed at this excellent hotel on our way to Spain. Our room was fantastic... spacious and super clean. The WiFi speed impressed us, and there were enough sockets to recharge our devices. The bed was big and comfortable; we had a really good night's sleep. Dinner at the brasserie with tasty dishes and wine served by the students was a great experience. Breakfast was just how we like it. Ample choice of food and the coffee perfect.

“Good Hotel and Excellent Reception Staff”

We chose to stay at the Hotel Vatel mainly due to its location being close to the CHU {hospital} in Nimes, as a relative had been involved in an accident and we needed to be close by for visiting daily. The hotel is about 10 minutes drive from Nimes and is quite remote so you would need a car to travel to other nearby locations. The hotel room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The restaurant and food were good, although, meals were a bit expensive, the staff in the restaurant were mainly students from the hotel school and they were very pleasant and always helpful. However, the one person at the hotel who I cannot praise highly enough is Cedric, who worked as one of the Receptionist/Concierge. He had a polite and helpful manner and was extremely professional. He went out of his way on numerous occasions to help and assist me when he did not need to. He acted as an interpreter when I needed assistance and advice and also helped with correspondence. He is a great asset to the Hotel and I was very fortunate that he was there to assist me during a very difficult stay at the hotel.

“ Room disappointing ”

Great reception but when we entered our room one of the twin beds was in the middle of the room and unmade. Towels were on the dressing table. We couldn't find the phone to call reception...even after looking under the pillow on the bedside table, so I had to go down to sort things out. The young… more

Great reception but when we entered our room one of the twin beds was in the middle of the room and unmade. Towels were on the dressing table. We couldn't find the phone to call reception...even after looking under the pillow on the bedside table, so I had to go down to sort things out. The young man on reception told me to get my husband and wait in the bar for a drink, then he called housekeeping and I heard him reprimanding them. By the time I returned to the room 2 housekeepers were hurriedly sorting out the bed and when they moved the towels we found the phone which had been buried. We didn't take up the offer of a drink as we wanted to use the pool and Jacuzzi. We found the spa area excellent. The restaurant food was good and the service also of a good standard although we did feel a bit rushed and had to ask for a longer delay between courses. The lack of soundproofing in the rooms was annoying during the daytime when we could hear our neighbours talking but at night it was almost intolerable with the excessively loud snoring. We also found the room far too hot so had to open the windows which of course led to traffic noise. So, good staff on reception and in the restaurant, great Spa but would not return as we hardly slept.
