Appart'hotel residence de Closeraie is a bdget, no-frills hotel in Lourdes. Located just beside the train station, it is a good choice for those who are traveling with time constraints. The downside though is that it is quite far from the Cathedral and the Grotto and demands, for those unfamiliar with the transport system, a little exercise when visiting the pilgrimage site. Breakfast is very basic and kinda "controlled". Over-all, it is still a good value due to its price, location, cleanliness and medium-size rooms.

“Best for a whirlwind visit to Lourdes”

Most of the popular places in Lourdes seen to be walking distance. So almost any of the hotels/apartels can be considered convenient. We were lugging around our baggage for a two week trip. Most of the popular places in Lourdes seen to be walking distance. So almost any of the hotels/apartels can be considered convenient. We were lugging around our baggage for a two week trip. So being right next to the train station was convenient. The places is basic. But for half the price of surrounding hotels, and all I needed was a bed since we planned to be out most of the time. The room was large enough. And a fridge and microwave were a bonus. Breakfast wasn't much variety. But the baguettes and croissants were excellent. There is no reception most of the time. So we were given the combination to the front door. And daytime meals are only served from 8am-12pm. I'm not sure what time dinner is served. For someone preferring the quality of pillows, blankets and towels of a hotel, this is not for you. But I still feel you get what you pay for.

Here are some tips which you may find useful before making your reservation: 1. Check-in is at 4pm. (we arrived before 3pm but it was sheer luck that we managed to collect our key upon arrival) 2. Look up a list of do's and don'ts enclosed before check-out. 3. Excuse my malice but perhaps buffet breakfast is richer in hostels - this one is a joke! In fairness, the lady at the reception was helpful and pleasant..

We stayed in a room with 3 beds with a view of the train station. The only positive thing I can say about this apartment/hotel is that it's close to the train station if you're a train traveler. Since it's not a hotel, don't expect someone to tidy up your room everyday. Towels are replaced but that's about it. There's a kitchenette so you can cook if you want. Air condition was working very well for us which was nice.
