We stayed here for a week & loved every single minute of our stay. The hotel is brilliantly located, with a 15 minute drive from the airport, a 10 minute walk from the Old Port, a 10 minute walk from the beach & a 10 minute walk from Place de Verdun from where you can get buses to everywhere, including Ile de Re. The hotel is in the middle of a very beautiful, well maintained park, that is lovely to go for early morning walks. It also has a small animal park with goats, pheasants, budgies etc that are pleasant to watch. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and well air-conditioned. And we were especially glad of that air conditioning system for our last few days when the outside temperature rose to 40 degress. The breakfast in the hotel are a must & offers a huge range of really nice food in nice, pleaseant surroundings inside & outside. The breakfast is good value & sets you up well for the day ahead. We used & massively enjoyed the swimming pool, especially on those very hot days. So do not forget to bring your swimming gear. I have mentioned everything great about the hotel so far, except the staff. Without doubt what really made our week long visit to this hotel special for us, was the staff. As soon as we arrived into the reception, we were made very welcome. Reception took the time to advise what local sites to visit & how to get there. William told me about lots of the local history (I'm a history buff). The breakfast staff were just lovely, especially the spanish girl (I cannot recall her name) who was so pleasant & lovely to us. All the staff took wonderful care of us. So when we go somewhere, at the end we ask ourselves would we go back, which is our litmus test to gauge a hotel / holiday. Everyone wants to go back. It is a lovely hotel & La Rochelle is very beautiful. So with no hesitation whatsoever, I can recommend this hotel. Oh !! During your visit, if you hear there is a jazz band playing there in the evening, you must sit & enjoy them. They are really really good. Novotel La Rochelle, thank you. We enjoyed spending a week with you. And we will be back. And thank you to all the lovely staff.

“Great hotel for a stop in La Rochelle”

Located a short walk through the park to the port. Rooms clean and comfortable and there was an excellent breakfast, with lots to choose from. Staff friendly, efficient and helpful. Big plus for us was the free car park which was locked at night and no height restriction. There was a small pool but we didn’t use this.

“A nice place for a short stay.”

Overall this was a pretty good hotel. Our main concerns included the state of the pool as at the top of walls it was all green and unpleasant looking and it was also quite deep throughout so might not be suitable for young children. Overall this was a pretty good hotel. Our main concerns included the state of the pool as at the top of walls it was all green and unpleasant looking and it was also quite deep throughout so might not be suitable for young children. The outdoor seating seemed nice and there was a ping-pong table which we didn't use but seemed in use. There was also a table football table and a joystick arcade machine which we saw a lot of kids using. Our room was standard for a Novotel with a main double bed and a sofa bed in an average sized space. This hotel nice soaps and shower products like all of the Novotels we stayed in this week. The breakfast was quite pleasant with large coffee cups and nice savoury delacacies along with a lot of fruit and cereals. Finally, the location was also quite good, around a 5 minute walk from the La Rochelle harbour which had many nice looking restaurants and a small market along with multiple street performers who were attracting large crowds. This also had car parking right outside the hotel unlinked some other hotels from this establishment which have underground parking which is annoying to access. Overall we enjoyed our stay!

I think this hotel has a lot of potential. The food had many choices and was very nice. The beds were comfy, and the room was a bit small but clean. The pool was a bit dirt. It had green on the tiles and had some dirt floating round. Also, there were only a couple of sunbeds, I thought the temperature was nice but got a bit cold at night.
