If you are looking for something negative, don't look in this review. There is not a single thing I can honestly say that isn't positive. My family went here in 1964, and when my wife and I were looking for things to do with our granson, I ran across their website. We took our grandson here for a three day-two night stay in June, and make some memories that I hope he will have when he is my age. Regrettably, we did not go horseback riding, but then again, I'll use that as an excuse for next summer's trip! Everyone on the staff, from front desk to diner to Buck, (who I'll talk about later), was friendly, courteous and helpful. They were all quick to make suggestions on how to maximize our time there, and they were right every time! The cabin, while small, was very clean and comfortable. Furnishings were solid wood and western rustic, as expected. The view from the front porch, (see attachments), was gorgeous, seeing the first green of the golf course in front, and mountains/hills to the North. (Those ARE mountains if you grew up in Southeast Texas!) Activities that we participated in, at no additional cost, were the swimming pool, putt-putt golf, ping pong, wagon ride and s'mores at the campfire at night. Things we missed, which would have also been at no cost, included volleyball, basketball, tennis, cornhole, pickleball, shuffleboard and horse shoes. If you can't find something enjoyable to do here, you are either warped or you aren't trying. Now to Buck! Buck was the cowboy/entertainment director who drove the tractor for the wagon ride, managed the compfire and provided the supplies for the s'mores, and provided all the information about the ranch. He gave us a tour of the Pilots Lounge on the second day, and the history of that place was amazing. On top of all that, he and my grandson seemed to become best friends almost immediately. He was as good with kids as anyone I have seen in my 67 years. By the time we left, it seemed like we were either part of his family, or he was part of ours...Well, maybe both! We will definitely be going back here, and would suggest that anyone with kids who need to get outside and appreciate older times go as well.
