The bad: the rooms were really dark. As in, the room was always on a dusky mood lighting setting, EVEN IN THE BATHROOM!! Not a deal breaker but I found it weird. My parents had a room w a sauna. This is in another bldg that requires a bit of a maze walk, plus using an old fashioned lift. I found this charming BUT my elderly parents found the entire process and arcane lift system unappealing. ALSO the lift was often not working bc someone or another would leave one of the two doors ajar ( hard to explain but for safety reasons the lift only works if 2 doors entering the elevator are firmly closed.) That upgraded sauna room also has a bar or something that kept my parents up at all hours… The good: the LOCATION really can’t be beat for a tourist — tho I suppose Helsinki is pretty small so perhaps many areas in Helsinki can boast the same thing? We stayed also at Radisson Blu and found that was not as easy to get around. THE BATHROOMS were dark but luxurious and spacious. Please note *** the bathtub is tall, so not the best for folks w mobility issues *** THE BREAKFAST!! I read someone complaining about the breakfast but we loved it. We experienced breakfasts in 4 different accommodations in Finland and this was by far our favorite in terms of breadth of choices and deliciousness. Where can you literally make your own juice with carrots and apples and other fruit and veg? There were many fun powders to sprinkle on yogurts and porridges; a waffle bar and inlet bar; hot foods, a bank of juices fresh squeezed and not; a yo of choices for drinks, the list goes on. the reception area is small but there was an intimate lobby area with seating which many people were using. I really appreciated the space. I am coming from the US and so comparing Marski to Hiltons, Matriotts and the like — I liked how Marski had the conveniences of a big hotel with the vibe of a boutique hotel. Overall a very lovely stay for us.
