We did 3 nights at this hotel with Santa's lapland, and overall no complaints. The hotel is one of the better ones in the area, the downside is the pool was closed but not the be all and end all. If you are going to this hotel in the winter season then your there for the magic of christmas and on a short stay so you spend very little time in the hotel anyway, The food choices weren't amazing and wasn't a great deal to choose from but there was always something for the kids sausage and chips, chicken nuggets etc so you won't starve. If you get hungry between meal times you can get hotdogs and sandwiches. Rooms are not cleaned daily but again short stay so doesn't really matter. The hotel is in a prime location with a bar over the road supermarket to the right 500m down the road and to the left is more hotels another bar and the toboggan slopes. All the staff are helpful and friendly the rooms are OK can be slightly crowded in the rooms if your are a family of 3 or more but again need to remember where you are it's a very seasonal place and only short stays this is not a hotel for long stay unless you get one of the apartments. The hotel is pricey but Finland as a whole I'd very pricey €9.60 for a pint and if you actually get a full pint you be lucky but again it is expected and should be costed into your stay. There is a a couple of slightly cheaper places to get food and drinks but your talking pennies not a massive amount. Overall would stay again and would recommend.

We stayed at the HCS as part of our adventure with Santas Lapland and we were not disappointed. We had a large 3 bed apartment just a short walk from the main building (which was actually two bedrooms and a bed in the living room) which was enormous, clean and comfortable. One bedroom had a double bed, the other two singles and the lounge had a massive fold down bed - all very comfortable. The kids also loved the in-room sauna. We had a drying unit which looked like a stand up fridge freezer at first which was incredible at drying clothes in no time at all - we could do with one of these at home! Breakfast is plentiful and loads to choose from. Our only criticism would be to get better toasters - they are sooooooo slow. Other than that, no complaints from us. the evening buffet meal was lovely as well. Good choice of food, nice and hot and really tasty. We have never done a winter break before, but can safely say we will be back in Saarielska very soon :-)

Many good points but not a 4 star hotel. Disappointing rooms, in need of a refurbishment and ours was a really long walk from reception. No lift, not at all suitable for the less physically able. Many good points but not a 4 star hotel. Disappointing rooms, in need of a refurbishment and ours was a really long walk from reception. No lift, not at all suitable for the less physically able. Bathroom small and tired, tiny shower, dimly lit like the rest of the room. Beds simple and comfortable. No fridge. Good heating, cosy despite cold weather outside. Food was very good, plenty to choose from - breakfasts and evening meals very good. Drinks expensive, 48€ for a bottle of house wine, €9.60 for 0.5L beer but that’s standard for the area. Not really enough space to sit down as a group to have a drink around the bar area. Nice if you could find a space around the log fire though but difficult if in a large group like ours. Staff were helpful

The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are actually nicer than they look on the website. Rooms are very small for a family of 4. We found the walls paper thin (I could hear when next door were using the toilet) and as there were so many kids (understandable) we didn't get the best nights sleep. The food is very basic - we ended up eating out as there was very little choice and what there was wasn't great. Breakfast times were very chaotic. Overall I would recommend an apartment rather than the hotel - they look much bigger and may be quieter.
