We love love loved our stay at Voco Royal Terrace. The staff were lovely, knowledgeable and friendly, and went the extra mile over and over again. Our room was large and gorgeous, with a view of the terrace gardens behind the hotel, a king bed with a pull out couch, a fireplace (I think nonfunctional, but I didn’t ask or try) and small closet room leading into a roomy bathroom with a full length tub. The hotel bar was a gem. We only tried the restaurant for breakfast, and as hotel breakfast buffets go it was pretty decent, with plenty of options. The restaurant was open for dinner on Christmas Day, which was a nice feature but we were out wondering. The staff left a stocking on Christmas Eve and and a card with some small gifts on Christmas Day at our door, and they had complimentary mulled wine and na mulled juice for the kids in the lobby the days leading up to Christmas. Calton hill is directly behind the hotel so it’s an easy place to visit. I can’t say enough nice things. The street the hotel is on is mostly other hotels and residences so the area is a little sleepy, but it’s not a far walk to plenty of places to eat and drink.

Hugely impressed with the Voco Royal Terrace during my first stay here. Excellent location for the city centre and access to both the Old and New town. Great value for a decent standard hotel. Free parking outside the hotel at the weekend is a bonus. Room was really nice - not huge but well maintained, clean and comfy bed. Staff on the desk were lovely and genuinely made us feel welcome. Stayed with our dog and she too was made welcome from start to finish (rather than being just tolerated as in other ‘pet friendly’ hotels). Only slight negative is the breakfast is a bit pricey unless you want a feast in the morning. Definitely recommend the Voco and will stay there again

We arrived here a day earlier due to the storm,it was very late when we arrived & was prompt check in. We then had a few drinks at the bar,which was a lovely cozy setting. The following day we had a couple of issues with our room & this was dealt with & we were upgraded to a suite which was absolutely outstanding! Breakfast was lovely & plenty of choice. The hotel is a perfect location,we ate in a lovely restaurant which was recommended by staff,I can’t comment on hotel restaurant for dinner as they had limited choice due to no deliveries,again due to the storm. The staff at this hotel are a true credit & gem & I would like to say a big thank you,they were all amazing,from bar staff to front desk,waitresses & cleaning,I would highly recommend this hotel & I would definitely return in the future!

We stayed at Voco hotel for a family trip, and while there were some positives, our experience was not entirely satisfying. Pros: • The staff was friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist. • Our room was spacious, which was great for a family stay. Cons: • The bathroom was extremely cold. We raised the issue with the hotel, but unfortunately, nothing was done to improve it. • The breakfast was quite disappointing, with limited variety and not the best quality. Overall, while the hotel had some good aspects, the issues with comfort and breakfast left us underwhelmed.
