Fabulous location and a striking looking hotel . The place is vast but we didn’t feel overwhelmed . Check in was smooth and we were upgraded to a lovely room with a stunning view . The room was very clean , good facilities with a very comfy bed . The balcony was a lovely size with plenty of seating . Tv was a little idiosyncratic but it showed running totals etc . The breakfast is plentiful with lots of choice and the room has a lovely view of the bay . We did eat a buffet supper , it was ok but I feel it could be improved by offering a smaller selection and concentrating on quality . It was however more than adequate . There is a comprehensive gift shop with clothes etc . The pools are really good , both indoor and outdoor have plenty of seating and a very well stocked bar . The changing rooms have good mirrors and dryers , a great experience . A swimming costume spinner would make the experience perfect . Outside is very very pretty and if you want to explore down in the bay there is a complimentary golf cart up and down . You can call reception and they will send one down just for you , so please don’t forget to tip , they’ve probably only just got back up . From the bay you can go on several boat trips , be aware of its chpppy the fumes can be overwhelming . Thoroughly recommended for all types of holidays . We will be returning .

Firstly what a location the views over the bay are breathtaking. The hotel is rated as a 5 star but to be honest it’s an ok 4 star. Upgrade on arrival to a refurbished room on 8th floor and was very nice but it was the selection and quality of food that let the hotel down. Breakfast was ok but evening meal poor and long queues for food so the lukewarm food was cold by the time you returned to your table. As a whole had enjoyable stay and was value for money for what we paid.

Large hotel in the town of Cavtat, sits quite high up on a hill (free golf buggy service up and down for parts of the day and early evening, otherwise not for the feint hearted). Reception area is vast and nicely decorated. I understand the bedrooms are being updated currently and they are part way through this work. We had one of the ones that had not been updated, but that wasn't an issue for us as the bed was comfy and we had a lovely view off the balcony. Rooms have a mini bar. On the whole the room was fine, a tad dated and we did have issues with tiny ants in the bathroom which we reported and was addressed, although they did return. Towels etc were of decent quality - but this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel so you would expect that. We also had robes provided which was a nice touch and the cleaners bought little chocolates in each night which was great. We were b&b, and were satisfied with the quality of breakfast. We also ordered lunch one day - a club sandwich which was very nice but I can't comment on the dining experience. The drinks are quite pricey at this hotel (but then we found this to be the same across Croatia), we ordered a bottle of house white one day - 37 euro. If I am entirely honest I wouldn't have minded the cost of the drinks but I found the service from bar staff to be poor. This is the main reason why I have not rated the hotel as highly. I had to wait 20 minutes just to order a drink on one day and several of the bar staff (generally the older female ones) were quite abrupt and repeatedly answering phone whilst you were trying to order food and drinks was not a great experience. It really made me feel uncomfortable as if they were doing me a great favour if serving me. We experienced similar behaviour at the pool bar. The main reception staff were lovely and friendly and the pool attendants also very warm and welcoming but not quite sure whats happening with the bar staff. Possibly they were understaffed that week - but it didn't leave the best impression. We didn't use the outdoor hotel pool as it is small for a hotel that size and quite shaded from the sun, but we did go down to the seaside bathing platforms on a few occasions which belong to the hotel and they provide a stunning view of Cavtat - really picturesque part of the world. There are free beach towels available although the beds are a little cramped. The beach restaurant is pleasant and we ate there a few times. I would probably rate my experience 3.5 out of 5. The hotel is nice and little extras such as the golf buggy service up and down the hill are great. Reception staff great and breakfast nice. The bar experience, pool experience and tiny ants knocked it down a little for us. What we did learn is that many guests return time and time again, but several told us their experience this year was not as positive so not really sure what was happening for them this year.

“Not a 5 Star Hotel.”

The hotel is impressive when you arrive. We had to wait for our room as we arrived about 12 after our cruise as part of a TUI cruise and stay. We chose to stay for 7 days half board. We had asked for a twin room I was concerned with the placement of the beds with the pillows covering an electrical socket. After we wrote a review on here the must have read it and moved the beds but that was on day 5. I was disappointed that we paid for a 5 star hotel for a special holiday it felt more like a 3 star hotel. The breakfast was a buffet with the same foods every day. The dinner was also a buffet and was terrible. The food was tepid and most of the time verging on cold. The only other alternative in the hotel which advertised multiple restaurants was the steak restaurant we could eat there with a 20% discount. We chose to eat in Cavtat which is lovely but expensive (lunch €46 for Calamari a beer and Coke Zero if you wanted a burger and chips €22, dinner two courses the starter a sharing platter €96 one beer 2 glasses of wine). I watched the staff at the hotel mix the tepid food with fresh food brought out from the kitchen never saw them testing the temperature with a food probe. Surely if a Marella ship can keep the food piping hot then a 5 star hotel should be able to do the same. The only bar available within the hotel in the evening was the piano bar with a gent playing the piano. He was good but as we stayed for a week we began to hear the same tunes again. The bars are expensive in the hotel €11 for a cocktail, €7 for a beer and about €9 for a small wine. Given the cost to stay at this hotel, a treat I was disappointed having just come off a cruise, I felt the Marella cruise was so much better than the service this hotel provides. We asked the Tui rep where we could get fresh drinking water and was told to use the bathroom tap. I’ve stayed in 3-4 star hotels before all with fresh water drinking fountains. This hotel also advertises beaches there are no beaches just huge rocks with swimming pool type steps into the sea, we noted lots of families at the hotel I hope they weren’t expecting the advertised beaches, while we were there the red flag and the rope blocking the steps to the rocks and the sea never moved. I’m disappointed as a treat we paid for a 5 star hotel and feel we wasted our money and should have chosen a 3 or 4 star which are comparable with this hotel.
