I totally agree with the wasted potential review and the other two negative reviews regarding staff disinterest and the abysmal evening meals. Nothing for 2 vegetarians to eat and left over chips for breakfast. Agree regarding soup and rubbery, dried up food. Not even a lounge with easy listening music so just a walk after the evening meals and back to the bedroom. I didn't really feel that anybody was managing the hotel and only about 4 members of staff that engaged with the guests

There should be many positives here; this hotel is in a magnificent setting, my sea view room literally took my breath away when I opened the curtains. The rooms are clean and modern and the hotel is ideally situated for flat access to the main harbour area, bars and restaurants. However, the hotel is not maximising its potential; the staff seem unhappy and, to be frank, often rude. My check-in experience was snappy, twice cleaning staff were grumpy with me for being in the lift which is too small for two people and their trolley. On check-out the staff member was talking to a colleague and just held out her hand for my card without acknowledging me verbally at all, let alone asking for feedback about my stay. She only spoke to me to answer a question I asked about left luggage. The hotel is spotless but I was woken on many days by very early housekeeping (before 8am), hoovering and shouting at each other; I’m on holiday, I’d like a lie-in! I will return as the hotel is so convenient and lovely but I hope that there has been some serious time investment in staff training to make interactions more pleasant.

“Style over substance. Avoid half board.”

We spent a week at Hotel Cavtat, half board at the end of October and left feeling a bit let down and frustrated overall. On the plus side, the weather was great, the hotel is very central and to get to Dubrovnik is easy and has been recently refurbed. It’s very clean and the rooms are comfortable with great views and scenery but the town of Cavtat is probably the sleepiest ‘resort’ we’ve ever been to. On a negative note, if we ever did return we would definitely avoid the half board option as the evening meals leave a lot to be desired. We booked half board thinking it was near the end of season and from the evening meals it seemed the chef was eager to go on his holiday too ! Breakfast was good we thought for a 3/4 star hotel but evening meals were school dinners at best but with a little thought and consideration to guests it needn’t have been. Things like stale brick like bread rolls, cold and tasteless soup rehashed from yesterday evenings leftovers, ‘show cooking’ was basically a piece of fish or pork on a hot plate (that was it, just that then left to go like cold rubber) was the norm and don’t even go there with ‘cod soup’?? Things were left to run out, the veg was boring and tasteless and dishes like spaghetti bolognese had little seasoning. The cold meats and salad were good though but the dessert table was the mornings yoghurt removed from jars and put in bowls with the cherries if you were really lucky and pieces of sponge cake that was just cake mix and watermelon each and every night ! We know guests were just as frustrated as us and some even contacted jet2 to change to b and b and we saw others just look round and then go elsewhere to eat which we did on a couple of evenings too. Shame. Some staff, not all either seemed overwhelmed or uninterested and in the restaurant we never had our plates cleared while we there at any point as there was simply not enough bodies. Dirty plates, cups and saucers were just left to be cleared when the very hardworking waitresses could which was sometimes a long time and didn’t give the best ambience for eating in and the lady at the pool bar (which was closed for at least half of our stay or when it did open, opened at 1230) acted like smiling is a sin and gave off a vibe to not even approach the bar especially if you had a sunbed voucher to redeem. For the last three days we were there all the dirty glasses and bottles from three days ago were just left on the counter too. On sun beds as well, don’t fall for the signs all round the pool area saying that if you wish to use sun beds please contact the front desk or the hard sell on check in as it’s a con to make you spend at the bar. At this which time of year it’s absolutely not necessary to do unless you want to be front row by the pool. Save your 5/10 euros a day, sit where you like and enjoy a beer or soft drink from the Studenac supermarket 200 yards away and smile like we did once we’d realised. Ps. Whoever thought the lights over tables in the restaurant that hang down were a good idea which guests constantly bang their heads on when sitting or getting up needs to have his head bashed with them. Classic example of style over substance…

I just returned from a week hotel Cavtat. There are positives and negatives, so I'll start with the positives. The hotel itself had a makeover in 2023 and is clean, stylish and modern, comfortable, has a small rooftop plunge pool,and a sunbed area, which is far too small to accommodate all the guests if you were there during the busy season. There is a small pool side bar on the roof, which was closed 4 days out of the 7 we were there, and glasses and beer bottles were left there and not collected by staff. The hotel operates a booking system for the sunbeds and you pay EUR 5, per bed, per morning or afternoon session, The EUR 5 is supposedly redeemable by voucher at the bar, however, you cant use them in the restaurant when the pool bar is closed, and they dont give change. You can use them in the hotels ground floor bar, but you would have to go down 5 floors, soaking wet to do so. Not a good system! Wine measures are small, see below the picture if a EUR& glass of Pinot, and I hadn't taken a sip. The rooms were well equipped, with comfy beds, tv, toiletries, drinks chiller, hairdryer, small balcony and safe and were cleaned every day. We were half board and while breakfasts were perfectly ok, a variety of cereals, ham, cheese, fruit, eggs, beans, bacon, toast, pastries, youghurts etc, the evening meals were poor. The food was lukewarm, bland, not much choice, and the service was bad. the soup was appalling, the tureen was turned off as soon as the restaurant opened so luke warm, tasteless soup was offered. Things ran out and weren't replenished, the bread was stale (probably left over from breakfast) and desserts were bland cake, or sliced melon or left over yoghurt from breakfast. Every night, it didn't change. Some guests demanded a refund and changed to B & B . The staff were not interested and didn't clear the tables. We only had one waitress who actually cared, smiled, interacted and that was Andrea, she is a credit to the hotel. The rest of the restaurant staff were uninterested, and could clearly see some items had run out but weren't bothered, didn't clear used crockery and glasses away. It seems a lot of investment has gone on styling and furnishings in this hotel, but none has been spent on food or getting interested staff. I would not stay here again and would definitely not recommend half board.
