“Beautiful hotel with exceptional staff”

The Yangtze is a lovely hotel centrally located for many tourist sights. My room was lovely with a big soaking tub as well as a rain shower. The Yangtze is a lovely hotel centrally located for many tourist sights. My room was lovely with a big soaking tub as well as a rain shower. The housekeepers were so sweet as well, tucking in my daughter’s teddy bear at turn down each night. What a nice touch for I’m sure very busy people. The breakfast buffet was terrific, and I’ve got to thank the waiter who took time to show me what was vegetarian and what wasn’t. That sums up this hotel, actually, as everyone was patient and kind with my lack of Mandarin. It’s a beautifully appointed place with an exceptional staff. Stay here!

“Return visit to the Yangtze Hotel”

I stayed at the Yangtze Hotel once before around 2018 and was glad to have a chance to visit again. I stayed at the Yangtze Hotel once before around 2018 and was glad to have a chance to visit again. I noted only one change, the ground floor restaurant is now separated from the rest of the hotel and breakfast is served in a few rooms on the 9th floor. Maintenance is excellent, the room designs are varied and interesting, sleep quality was wonderful and the location is convenient right across from Exit 14 of People's Square subway station. In cool weather the Bund is a pleasant 15-20 minute walk away (not so pleasant on a steamy Shanghai summer day). This is a really charming hotel, a bit of a time warp in the best possible way, and unlike any other hotel I've come across in China.

3 night stay for 3 adults in 2 rooms Upside: (1) Location: Across the street from Raffles City mall. 3 night stay for 3 adults in 2 rooms Upside: (1) Location: Across the street from Raffles City mall. People's Square metro station is literally across the street, giving access to multiple subway lines. Nearest section of Nanjing Road pedestrian street is just a short walk away. Many places to eat in the neighborhood (2) Efficient and warm service: Housekeeping is "old school" with evening turndown, providing a touch of luxury. Plenty of bottled water replenished twice daily. Concierge/doormen were helpful with luggage and transport advice (3) Rooms were spacious and clean Downside: (1) Cheaper category rooms face the internal courtyard. Depending on the weather and time of the year (we went in autumn), these rooms can be a bit gloomy. However, courtyard-facing rooms probably are probably quieter, as the streets around the hotel are busy with traffic during the day (2) One room was on the warm side, with the thermostat showing temperatures as high as 26C. Spoke to the front desk, and the explanation given wasn't very clear, but I suspect the HVAC system had probably moved to heating mode, even while the weather was still relatively warm. Fan was offered, which I turned down. Didn't consider opening the windows as the room was at the ground level of the internal courtyard (3) Small gym. Well maintained, but with limited equipment
