Although I live in Shanghai, I decided to book a hotel for the Friday and Saturday night of the Grand Prix weekend earlier this month. My home is more than 20kms from the circuit and I wanted to avoid the inevitable crush on the metro if I traveled along with every other fan... I booked (through Booking.com) the Grand Metropark as I have previously stayed in Doubletree by Hilton hotels, which this previously was... In the event, the weather on Friday afternoon/evening was foul and I decided to remain at my apartment rather than brave the wind and rain at all. I called the hotel to let them know and they duly noted my new arrival time - after FP3 and Qualifying on Saturday afternoon. I told them that I was aware of the cancellation terms and that I would still have to pay for my two night booking. However, when I came to check out after a very comfortable stay, I was charged for just the one night. I didn't ask for this courtesy but I was very grateful to receive it. First class etiquette and business, in my book. As for the hotel - it is finely appointed and equipped. The staff are extremely obliging. The location is perfect for the Circuit and Shanghai Automobile City but it does seem to a very business-orientated sort of location, though there also appears to be some decent shipping opportunities within walking distance.

This hotel is a fantastic hotel , in Kunshan city in China , it is a very quite and accessible to every body , you can find all requirements that you may need to stay there for a while .It was fit for my business trip .

Business trip with much time at factory. Unexpectedly stayed on executive floor. Book by the factory, so I take what they dish out. The hotel changed names and perhaps management. It is now Mercure Kunshan Huaqiao Hotel. Room was very nice. Good sleep quality, quiet, comfortable, clean. WiFi worked well and no issues with VPN. The "executive lounge" never opened on our floor. I guess they didn't have too many executives, as we clearly didn't qualify. Breakfast was on-time early, and good selection of western and Chinese foods. Did some laundry and was surprised at the high cost. Took all our meals at the "L-Bar". Pretty lonely there, not many patrons. Server did not speak english, but was understanding and we worked it out. They had a 2 for 1 drinks sign at the entrance, but it was only for show, I suppose, as nobody knew anything about a discount. Dinner was late for us most days, but the smaller plates did well and were satisfying. Some western and some Chinese. Did not have time to explore around and only looked into the gym and pool. Seemed good, and will use the next time, if we are not so busy. Enjoyed the stay and all needs were met. Recommended.

Mercure Kunshan Huaqiao (room 2101) +Good Wi-Fi, can video stream and use WhatsApp. +Free water bottles and soda in the room. +Comfortable bed. +Refridgerator, Air-condition (little noisy), TV, Iron, Safety box, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Razor, Shaving cream, Comb, Sewing kit. +Free gym, sauna and swimming pool (requires swim cap, can be bought for 28RMB at the gym, only by cash and not by putting it to the room bill). +10min walk to both the subway stations that are nearby. +10min walk to the mall that is next to Anting Station, just take left from the entrance to the cross road and take right, you will have the subway line above your head on the right side. Grocery stores and restaurants nearby and around the mall, McDonalds, KFC, etc. -Bad service and english from the staff. Only one person knew english of the 8 people I tried to talk to, it was the guy who ordered the car to the airport for me. -Carpet on the floor (I don't like carpet on hotel rooms). -Bad air in the room, kinda dry. -I put "do not clean the room"-sign every day, but they still go inside the room and do it. +/- 1h with subway to city centre. Hotel is middle of Zhaofen Road Station and Anting Station on brown line 11, almost at the end of the line. 90min drive to/from Pudong airport. Cost 310RMB+5RMB for the toll from airport with taxi. 400RMB from hotel to airport that reception order. Floor 20-24 are executive floors, don't know whats so special about the rooms. Breakfast, lots to choose from but its more like lunch food than breakfast. Sometimes cold food and no butter for the bread, bad at refilling. No knife and fork on the upper tables, you have to take from other tables, should be a place with forks, knives and spoons. ATM at the lobby, but didnt work when I was there, it accept VISA, Mastercard, American Express, etc. Better service from the staff and with english speaking staff, then I can rate this to 4 star hotel. Pudong airport is big and have lots of stores and restaurants. Sim card for phones cost at airport 300RMB/10GB and 400GB/20GB and its only for data, no calls but you can call with other apps. Pocket wi-fi cost 700-900RMB depends on how much GB data you buy.
