Booked a 2 night stay here as wanted a room when I landed into Shanghai early morning, Room was ready when I got to the hotel about 930am. The hotel is massive, two large wings but you hardly see anyone!! Staff friendly enough, but quite limited English. I got upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite, people say it’s dated, but I didn’t find that. Bathroom great, modern usb chargers by the bed. Would really appreciate a coffee machine in the room though! Hilton Gold but paid the upgrade fee to ensure I got lounge access, as always found Chinese hotels quite funny about granting it. Evening happy hour with lots of food (no snacks though, just a full on meal) with wines and beers. Additionally breakfast was a nice spread with lots of options. Gym small but decent and lots of nearby places to eat or grab coffee. Location isn’t great if you are a tourist but I used the hotel as a base for my transit and would happily return.

The best room by far of our China tour hotels. A distant, side view of inner city Shanghai, Jin Mao Tower and major roads. We were in room 1215 on the 12th floor. Bright, light wood throughout the room. 2 usb sockets and ordinary sockets on each side of the very comfortable large bed. A useful Aircon and light control module is also on each side of the bed. The room contains a comfy two/three seater couch, coffee table, wardrobe with hanging and drawer space, table and chair, iron and board, safe, fridge, kettle, luggage case stand, full length mirror. TV we couldn’t get to work but that didn’t matter. Large window by side of bath. Separate shower. Lots of drawer space. Hairdryer, weighing scales, slippers, bathrobes, umbrella, We enjoyed a lovely breakfast, which included tasty hash browns and lots of choice of pastries. I couldn’t think of anything they didn’t provide. A good choice of western and Asian food, in a very nice environment. The lobby bar has a very strange arrangement, serving only wine or beer and with very restricted hours. We found The Red Lips Bar across the very busy road interchange, which doesn’t look great inside or outside, but has a pool table and lots of sports channels on their two large tvs. There’s a useful convenience store next to the bar too. BA flight crews use the hotel and I’d be really happy to go back again.

During my recent stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Shanghai - Pudong, I encountered several issues that did not align with the standards expected from a Hilton property. The room was not well-maintained and the signature warm cookie was not warm, which was a disappointing start to my stay. Fortunately, Duty Manager Kelvin promptly addressed my concerns and arranged for a room change. Kelvin exemplified Hilton’s value of 'Now', demonstrating a sense of urgency and discipline in resolving my issues. The new room was a significant improvement, featuring a cleaner and more comfortable environment, which made a positive difference in my overall stay. While the property shows some visible wear due to its age, the overall aesthetics remain strong. Further improvements in F&B services and maintenance will enhance the guest experience even more. Despite this, the executive lounge offered a pleasant place to relax. Overall, the charm of the hotel made the stay worthwhile. It is recommended to visit DoubleTree by Hilton Shanghai - Pudong to appreciate the infrastructural beauty, with its unique greenery and garden areas embodying the visual representation of DoubleTree’s elegance and charm.

“Modern, clean and comfortable stay with great breakfast”

Hotel is modern and clean with good bathroom amenities. Beds are very comfortable and breakfast is of good quality and variety, especially the pastries section. Gym wasn’t bad and the lobby bar was a nice atmosphere (although the staff could have been more flexible and attentive).
