Well maintained luxury hotel. Downtown Nanjing with easy access to tourist attractions. Second stay there. Early 2000 style. Unique view of Nanjing from above 47th floor. This time , my room was on the 70th. Comfortable room bt a minor inconvenience: sometimes the bathroom has a slight smell of plumbing. But water pressure for shower was formidable. TV is too small ompared with the sizeble room of 46 m2. Breakfast was still very good.

“Need major renovations”

Central location to everything , great view of the city and lake The hotel is really aged. The bath room needs a lot of maintenance; the carpet doesn’t look clean; Hope they can do a major renovation soon! Breakfast quality is average. Many selections but could have been better prepared.

This hotel could be an incredible gem but it’s run pretty poorly. Let’s start with the positives though: best location in town (easy to walk or take metro anywhere) and if you have a room/suite on lake side, the views are incredible. Very good breakfast (aside from coffee, cappuccino etc that are awful) and large rooms. One of the most comfy bed I ever slept in (and I spend 100+ nights/year in hotels). Negatives: the hotel shows its age with bad carpet in most rooms, furniture and wardrobes that lost colours, sofa and chairs that look dirty even if they might not be. There is a decent outdoor (summer only) pool but open only during weekends and on week days you cannot even access the rooftop. Some rooms are not cleaned properly and last time we got a massive upgrade as we found nails and hair on the carpet and ton of dust on the furnitures. Lounge is nice but choice of food is nothing exciting and May to end of Sept views are often blocked as they keep the curtains down all the time (this is to avoid the heat but it missed the whole point of having a lounge with 360 views of the city). Front desk and Guest Service takes ages to reply; almost no one speaks English, but even when communication is in Chinese they are very slow. As I mentioned breakfast is nice but it’s always very full and the staff have absolutely no idea how to ensure that guests behave: people jumping queues, people stealing tables, people filling up Tupperware of food before leaving, etc. In other 5* hotels nearby (ShangriLa, Ritz Carlton) this rarely happens. I come here 3 times per year and usually they mess up twice so we get upgraded to make up for it. Pity because with some effort this hotel could be fantastic.
