I love this hotel. The receptionist and manager have been looking after us like we were the apple of their eye. They are patient with you if you do not understand and need time to think things over. I believe all the moaning English-speaking travellers only stay for a short time and judge by first impressions. But would not many of them pay to buy shabby chique garden furniture, but faint if they see wall paper peeling because the temperature is around 30 degrees and very humid in July and August? Here are some real treats: You get splendid Wifi free of charge in every room and even a retractable ethernet cable (not tested because the Wifi is so good) which is excellent for planning. You get multi-plug sockets for multiple devices (but you need to bring the converter sockets which we did) which is great if you bring two laptops, an Apple IPad and four mobile phones. They have arty Chinese-style rooms which are good for short stays (smaller cupboards but amazingly decorated showers and sinks) and modern up-to-date hotel rooms. The air con can be controlled, the fridge can be controlled, the bathroom fan can be controlled, that is YOU can switch it on or off. No rattling of anything that disturbs your sleep. The honking of the modern 20-million-city is far away and cannot be heard at all if you close the window. The hotel guests are mainly Chinese and extremely well behaved, no loud TV, no drinking etc. Immediate neighbourhood ranges from gated housing, hutong streets and market, to university building of the top Beijing Normal University, the Forbidden City etc. We are staying already since a week, and we are staying another one. I really should not have given away the secret to going local.

“Nice location, comfortable stay”

Very nice location Rooms are clean and good condition. Nice coffee shop and souvenir shop. Good tours bookable from front desk. Breakfast not bad Good value foe money. For the price and location, great for travelers who want safe clean environment

I've been to this location a few times within the past few years. There is a reason why I select this hotel. It did have good rooms and service when I visited visited in 2008. Eight years later, the quality has declined, but it is still very good. The rooms were clean, and you could purchase some food/drink in the hotel. There is even a few shops next to the hotel. The thing that is this hotel's best aspect is it's location, it is a five minute walk from the Forbidden City. It is that close. The price is decent for the service, but it is amazing for the location. I've never had an issue arriving to the hotel. You can take a cab there, or you can take the metro.

The hotel has full set a services: taxi, rent a car, guide, change money etc. Very friendly staff, clean room, not new furniture and bathroom 🚽 🛀. Near the hotel located small shop and chinese fast food. The nearest subway station 🚉 located 15-20 minutes by foot. But the Imperial Palace and Jingshan Park with Buddha' statue - 5-10 minutes and it's the only plus of the hotel. 🏩 For next time the hotel is not keen for me.
