“Great Location in Beijung”
We made a quick trip to Beijung to meet up with a family member working in China. This hotel was close to shopping, restaurants, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and subway. Clean, comfortable room at a very reasonable price which included large breakfast buffet. Great choice for this trip.

My impression of this hotel is good - I have seen some negative reviews but my experience was positive and I rather like the feel of it. For central Beijing at this price it’s great value. I found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful. My Chinese is non-existent and they patiently & kindly gave me various advice and directions in faltering English during my stay. Couldn’t ask for more. The ¥98 evening buffet is very, very popular (always a good sign) and I was pleasantly surprised. Much of it is cooked as you wait, the rest pours out regularly from the kitchen. From the taste, presentation and texture it’s all fresh and generally good quality ingredients. And the ‘endless’ portions are certainly seized upon by most diners, much as I quickly latched onto the similarly ‘endless’ self-serve beer. It is a tad scruffy in the bedroom corridors (nowhere else that I noticed) but the room is well maintained, clean and the staff very pleasant and helpful. Nestled almost next door to Tiananmen Square you are certainly very central. On a final note, hotel reception were more than happy to let me check in at 10.30 am and cleaned the room just as I arrived - most unusual for any hotel and feels very accommodating. All in all a nice place to stay. Plan to return next time I am here...

This was my forth time to stay at the Nanjing Great Hotel. It is just one block off Wangfujing Street so it's quite close to many of the things and places you will want to visit in Beijing. Since there is so much to do in and around the city, I chose one of the much cheaper rooms which have no windows. The room was small but more than adequate for sleeping. They have a (included) breakfast buffet which is better than many hotels I've found in China. The reception and housekeeping staff are all very friendly and helpful.

I stayed in Nanjing Great Hotel for 4 days and was relatively satisfied. It only cost about $30 a night and the room was clean and well maintained. I will note, however, that it smelled like smoke at first even though I asked for a smoke free room. The location of the hotel was great...only a block away from Wangfujing Street, only about 600 meters from the nearest metro station and maybe 800-1200 meters from the Forbidden City. The staff was also willing to help however they could, although their English was not very strong. I thought the restaurant was entirely overpriced - the dinner buffet cost about $25 and I really didn't think the spread was worth it. Also, the hotel tracks when you enter and leave the room (through the key card) so even if you hang "do not disturb" on your door, the cleaning staff will still come into your room and clean it during the day when they know you aren't in the room. This bothered me but maybe others wouldn't care. All in all, I would probably stay here again if I ever return to Beijing.
