From the warm greeting at arrival, to the clean comfortable room, fabulous pool and attentive, friendly staff, this was an excellent stay! Our bed was very comfortable too. And let’s not forget the location. On the map it looked a little out of the way, but in fact, it’s set one block off a main thoroughfare in one direction and two blocks from the museum and Parliament in the other. The road was very quiet. The restaurant is excellent and made exceptional by the staff. By the second day they remembered our breakfast orders! Every staff member we engaged with were kind (a special shout out to Miki who is a gem!). I am disabled and travel with both a walker and a mobility scooter and found hallways, doorways and the public areas all very accessible (although I didn’t see accessibility door openers to the pool area so that was a little trickier and there is no chairlift so if you require that the pool would be a no go). I called ahead to alert the hotel about my scooter and while I didn’t ask or need an ADA room, I suspect they made sure I had a room with a little extra room for parking. Our room had a walk in shower with a very small threshold (which is fine for me). But an added bonus was the solid surface floors in the rooms. They just feel cleaner than carpet and for my needs they’re easier to manage.

Nothing wrong with this property, but is missing the mark in some areas. It’s a doable walk from the ferry terminal dragging your luggage. Victoria downtown and waterfront are all a reasonable walk. The staff is courteous and friendly. The concierge room was always stocked and the food was pretty good. We were rewarded with an upgraded corner room with no balcony facing away from the harbor. The room was large and very clean. The bed was comfortable. Mini fridge, but no microwave. The issues with the room are the layout and furniture choices. The lounger/ fold out bed was quite uncomfortable for more than 1. It was also positioned where you are watching TV from the side. The bathroom was surprisingly small for the size of the room. There was no storage. Towels were folded and sitting the counter. There was no place else. We moved them to the closet to create counter space. The shower had zero shelving. No place for a razor or any personal bath products. The toilet was right by the door. If the door was opened while occupied, that person would be hit by the door. I’d probably stay again.

I stayed at this Marriott for 6 nights. The location is great, close to everything yet quiet apart from some construction noise across the street that is temporary. I liked the staff, all were very helpful and professional. The restaurant is lovely and has great food. The room on the 9th floor was spacious and comfortable. The decor is plain and simply dull, nothing to get excited about. It could use something more lively, maybe a little more color. The bedding was great, and the pillows were amazing. The bathroom is very dated, the door opens at an odd angle next to the toilet, and you have to be careful not to hurt yourself. That door just needs to be replaced as the bottom part of it was damaged, perhaps water damage, not sure but if you are paying $400 US dollars a night you want the place to be maintained properly.
