The views from the room was really good looking over the inner harbour as well as a museum and the legislative building and others. The high tea was so elegant and really scrumptious. Well worth every penny!

“Prime Location and Thoughtful Service. A Family-Friendly, Elegant Hotel Experience”

The hotel has an excellent location, situated in the heart of Victoria, directly facing the Inner Harbour, and within walking distance of Beacon Hill Park, the Royal BC Museum, and the Parliament Buildings. The design and decor are very elegant and refined, with a classic British charm. The staff were warm and friendly. I booked the “Kids Rule the Castle” package, which included the room and breakfast for two adults and two children (up to CAD 40 per adult, free for children under five). Upon arrival, the room was already set up with a small tent, coloring books and crayons, and two sets of pajamas suitable for the children’s ages. Room service also brought candy, cookies, and milk. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, and the breakfast was delicious. However, there were two minor issues: first, the hot water tap in the bathroom sink was loose and difficult to turn; second, when we took the children swimming in the evening, the women’s changing room in the pool area was not sufficiently cleaned, with an unpleasant odor throughout the room—something unexpected for a hotel of this caliber. A small suggestion: since the hotel offers a special package for children and provides family-friendly amenities like a crib, small tent, and children’s pajamas, perhaps it could also consider providing diapers for families with young children. Guests could purchase them if needed. Many guests are not locals, and finding diapers outside the hotel could be inconvenient and disrupt travel plans. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the Empress Hotel, and I would choose to stay here again on my next visit to Victoria. “Beautiful Historic Hotel right in the center of everything!”

Absolutely beautiful hotel with so much history behind it! Rooms are well appointed, but small. The room size and cost is my only criticism of this magnificent hotel. “Gracious Stay in an Iconic Hotel”

We had a lovely one night stay in a city view gold room. The hotel room itself was spacious and well furnished with the exception of the bathroom which was relatively small with a standard tub. Fortunately, the shower heads and Le Labo Rose 31 toiletries still created the Fairmont experience. Our city view was more of a courtyard view which would have been fine if not for the recurring noise during the night of some sort of machinery. It was frustrating as I had called ahead and requested a quiet room due to noise sensitivity. The fitness centre is also smaller than those in some other Fairmont hotels. Access to the gold lounge is delightful. The lounge is visually appealing, has a variety of comfortable and functional seating, and better operating hours than similar lounges in other hotels. The breakfast options are delicious and diverse. As a tea drinker I appreciated the teapots and loose leaf tea. All the staff were genuinely polite, engaging and ready to help. The location is very convenient to attractions, restaurants and shops.
