Hotel Westin Bayshore was the perfect location for exploring Stanley park and the waterfront walk by the convention center and BC Place. Room in tower has lovely view. Thought we would see BC Place and seaplanes but instead looking the other direction. Which was lovely with fall colors and the hills beyond. And amazing reflections on the water in the marina. Not the most comfortable bed/pillows, but fine The bathroom was our least favorite part. At first glance it looked great, but we began to realize lots of the design choices were not practical. Prime example: the shower which has no door. So it doesn't warm up and was really uncomfortable as soon as the water was off. also sprayed water out of the shower a bit so we wasted a towel mopping up the floor. The huge countertop was handy, but I would have preferred a different arrangement with a more standard shower. Also I hate sliding doors on bathrooms! It does not contain the sounds, light or smells. And ours would sort of catch as it closed, which made a loud noise (waking up anyone trying to sleep). Overall it was a nice spot, but we decided we were paying for the view more than the actual room

The Dome experience in the restaurant is worth it - try to get a reservation and sit in Angelina's section. The food was great and the atmosphere was amazing. “Great location, clean, but dated.”

First, the Westin Bayshore has a great location, right along the waterfront next to the marina and Stanley Park, with great restaurants nearby. Having said that, the hotel is in the midst of a "renovation" of the main building, but it occurs to me that when I have been there previously, there has been "renovation" going on. The problem is that the building is sixty years old. Then there is the tower building, again built in the sixties. I stayed on a high floor with a sweeping view of the Vancouver waterfront and horbor. But again, the rooms are dated. The windows and sliding patio doors are single pane, so there was wet condensation on the inside of the sliding door in the morning. Not a big deal, but double pane is the standard for the past thirty years at least. The bathroom has a tub shower. Yes, nice newer rain shower head with separage body shower wand, but you are standing in a home-size bathtub, and with a shower curtain, not glass enclosure. The TV, to my dismay was not a "smart" TV, so no Youtube or internet on the TV, only live TV with commercials, so I had to use my laptop, and there was no connector to the TV. So all the room TVs need upgrading to smart TVs. Most of our homes have this, a first class hotel should have this. The rooms were clean, the beds were good, but the pillows were puffy sponge pillows, they looked good but did not really cradle the head like a down or down alternative pillow. Carpetting was clean, not worn, but colors could be brighter, considering the prevailing cloudy light conditions of Vancouver in the winter. The hallways need a refresh of wall treatments. LOBBY: There really is no lobby, it is a large open area not much different from a conference center foyer. There are no intimate areas of comfortable seating in the lobby area,it is all "walk through" space. The staff were courteous, from the parking valets to the front desk and bellhops. The pool is outdoors, was heated but I did not use it. It is oval, and there are outdoor sauna barrel structures. Overall, a good hotel but in significant need of upgrades to today's standards if it is to compete with the Fairmont and other high end properties. Great potential, but management has to spend I would think about $100 Million Canadian at least, considering the bathroom and window upgrades especially.

“This is a Marriot Hotel, shame on you”

Great location, but the rooms are a bit disappointing. Bed did not have a blanket, had to ask twice. TV is completely locked down, you are forced to watch their crappy cable (its really that bad). Great location, but the rooms are a bit disappointing. Bed did not have a blanket, had to ask twice. TV is completely locked down, you are forced to watch their crappy cable (its really that bad). HDMI inputs do not work if you want to bring your own source. Temp gauge works sometimes. You have to pay $20/day for decent wifi. These are little things, but important to me. Really glad I didn't pay for this room, I'd be livid. I'd never pay my own money to be at this hotel. Everything is locked down and/or has a price attached to it. Only thing missing is the prison guard to enforce curfew. At least I brought dental floss to send a kite to the adjacent rooms.
