Although the Sandman Hotel is under renovation, it didn't interfere with our stay. Our room was at the front of the hotel and overlooked the street and building work but you could see the water and to be honest, we didn't stand looking out of the window too much! We had 2 queen size beds in our room and a decent size bathroom. It was very clean and spacious for our 2 nights here. We ate in Moxies which is attached to the hotel. The food was lovely and the serving staff were delightful. The hotel was walkable to Gas Town and the water front. We had a great time exploring the shops and watching the sea planes come and go. The hop on / hop off bus picked us up outside the hotel which was perfect. Would thoroughly recommend doing this to get an idea of the location of places. The only downsides to the hotel.....there was only 2 lifts that we had to wait ages for which were used by everyone, from staff to visitors to workmen. As we were on holiday we were very laid back as we were in no rush to get anyway, so it wasn't a huge problem for us. What was a huge problem for us was our noisy neighbours. Clearly the Australian woman in the room like the sound of her own voice which started about 6.30pm and was still being heard when we came back from dinner and well into the night. At 1.15am my husband banged on the wall but as she was still talking she didn't hear him! He then went to reception to see if there was anything they could do. It did go quiet about 1.30am so we think someone must of popped up and had a word, but it started again at 5.30am. Whilst we appreciate this is unavoidable for staying in some hotels it was very tiring for us, especially as we had only flown in from the UK the day before so was in desperate need of sleep. When checking out the receptionist had no record of our complaint. Very odd but on the whole not a great start to our holiday!

“Great Location; Meh Everything Else”

Location is excellent. Everything else is pretty meh as in average or below. Location is excellent. Everything else is pretty meh as in average or below. Hotel rooms are dated and the A/C is an old in the wall unit that is really noisy forcing you to make a decision between sleeping in the heat or being cool and not sleeping at all due to the noise. Customer service is pretty average, it seems like the staff do not like working for this hotel. Typically, the price would be the big equalizer to make up for the old infrastructure and shoddy service, but the price for a hotel stay also isn't that great in regards to being competitive. What you are paying here is the location, which again is excellent. Close to Rogers Arena, Robson for shopping and all the best bars and restaurants in the DT core. I hope this review helps anyone looking to stay here.
