“Old, tired and overpriced. Still. Do better.”

I have to agree with many of the reviews on this site. This hotel, formerly the stylish Prince Hotel, is now old and tired and in desperate need of a full-blown, massive renovation. Not a paint job, not new carpet or curtains, not lipstick on a pig -- which appears to be all Pan Pacific is willing … more

  • Yes, guests at Pan Pacific Toronto have highlighted that: I have to agree with many of the reviews on this site. This hotel, formerly the stylish Prince Hotel, is now old and tired and in desperate need of a full-blown, massive renovation. Not a paint job, not new carpet or curtains, not lipstick on a pig -- which appears to be all Pan Pacific is willing to do to keep the doors to this sad, once-proud property open. This place needs to close for a year and undergo a monster reno from top to bottom. It has fallen into major disrepair, yet somehow continues to enjoy high occupancy, likely due to price. In a city known for its insanely high hotel rates, the Pan Pacific is definitely cheaper than many others and in that respect, will always appear in a Google search to be a reasonable option. That said, rates are still often north of $300 a night which is nothing short of highway robbery. But, it's all about supply and demand, and people (including me) are apparently willing to pay what they're asking. And because it's a tower and a prominent feature on the landscape of that part of the city, it will always look much more attractive than it is. Bottom line is very simple, as so many other reviews have stated. It's old and tired and not worth anywhere near what they're charging. The saddest part is, the Pan Pacific chain is getting away with it because people are paying it. Shame on Pan Pacific. Do better.
