Lovely hotel in a nice setting next to the river. Staff in the restaurant appeared to be very stretched, but managed to give friendly service and food in the restaurant was very good (which is fortunate because there isn't any other choice in this area). Two negative points to be aware of: 1. No breakfast available in the morning. They give you a complimentary grab-bag which is adequate, but not really up to the standard of the hotel. 2. The Trans-Canada Highway is on the opposite side of the river and is quite noisy when in the garden. I'm not sure whether there is any noise in the bedrooms on the river side, but the other side is fine.

As we were on our return from Banff back to Vancouver meant we only had 1 night at the hotel. But what an enjoyable stay we experienced. The entrance is reminiscent of the ranch in the TV programme. We were welcomed at reception and allocated a fabulous room overlooking the mountains. (You have the option of the river view). Our room was very highly furnished and had a veranda. In addition the swimming pool was a welcome in what was a hot spell. The property runs close to the golf club which has eating facilities and a bar. Thank you for a memorable stay and hope to visit again but for longer.

“Country View - Improvements Recommended”

We stayed at the South Thompson Inn and Conference Centre in July 2024, as part of a tour bus group. It is located in the country, outside Kamloops, BC, with beautiful views of the hills. The grounds, buildings, and rooms were nice. For entertainment, bicycles, a swimming pool, and horse shoes were available. There were some horses and other animals to view. There were a few things that could be improved on. The rooms still had metal keys, that made opening a door more challenging when holding things. The rooms did not have included refrigerators. The balcony for the rooms were actually a connected porch, so anyone could come up to your glass doors, with no separation for privacy. Since we were on a bus tour, we were limited to eating at the hotel's restaurant, which was understaffed. There was no sign for seating, so we waited a long time at the lobby entrance until someone said to go to the bar to check in. The menu was limited and took some time to get to us. However, the food was good. The specially prepared breakfast for our tour group was good too, but difficult to find the room, as it was in the basement. Again, no signs showing where to go. On our way out the next morning, the owner and her dog boarded our bus to thank us for staying. That was nice, but would have been nicer had she, or some other employee, been there to greet us upon arrival and explain how the hotel, restaurant, and grounds work. Since I am not a city person, I appreciated the country atmosphere. I hope that they put up more signs, add refrigerators to the rooms, explain how things work, and provide more food and entertainment options.
