Recently, I visited Hotel PUR in Quebec. The facilities we were provided were exquisite. Whenever we came back to the hotel in the evening we were offered cold fruit-infused water. It was extremely hot outside but, our room's air-conditioner worked well. Our room was cleaned regularly by our housekeeper, Christine. The coffee pods were always stocked and our linen was changed daily. There were also two lovely men at the concierge, Jacques and Denis. Jacques helped us arrange our trip to Jacques Cartier National Park. Denis was a wonderful help throughout our stay. He helped us find our way through town. We had a lovely time in Quebec city thanks to him. Overall, we had an amazing stay at Hotel PUR and Denis Bouchard, Jacques and Christine made it even more special.

“Quiet stay, great city view”

We drove our Jeep Grand Cherokee into the reception area to unload before pulling into the underground garage. Luggage carts are only available here, not in the garage. Note that the clearance for the garage is only 5 feet 11 inches and our vehicle just fit. Bastien was pleasant and efficient at check-in, and as a Titanium Elite member, I was given an upgrade to an 18th floor two-room suite. Great view of the city and river! He even arranged for sparkling water and seasoned popcorn to be waiting when we returned from dinner. The one downside is that the neighborhood seems “mixed,” but we walked in the evening without incident up to the old town with a vibrant shopping and dining pedestrian area. This took about 25 minutes one way, including going up 120 steps on one of the town’s old “escalier” staircases (and back down). Everything in the room worked well, elevators were quick, linens and bed were nice and it was quiet. Pool renovation is due to be finished in early July which might enhance a future stay.

“If we only knew what was surrounding this hotel”

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel PUR for a week June 19th-26th 2024. It is located outside of the bustling city attractions of historic Quebec. The surrounding area is not what we were expecting; there seemed to be a good number of homeless that shelter near by and hang out at the church directly behind the hotel. Not that they created any problems for us, it was just not expected to have such a large population directly next to the hotel which does impact how you feel about going out in the evenings. Since we did not rent a car we did use Uber daily to get around. It's about a 15 - 20 min walk to the more interesting part of Quebec's old historic city. The hotel itself is clean but dated. We left for 2 days to Montreal and upon our return we walked into a room that had water falling from the ceiling onto the bed and down the walls in the bathroom, the carpets were totally saturated with water. We were fortunate to not experience any water damage on items that we left behind. From what we understood there was a water pipe break that flooded the upper two levels. We were on the 10th floor. They immediately moved us to another room which was dry. There is a restaurant at the hotel which was so-so. Our best experience with the hotel was Jacques the concierge. If you needed anything, he was the go to person. He was always pleasant, went out of his way to help and always had ideas as to where to go and what to do. Would we go back and stay there again, probably not. We didn't realize how little there was to do in that exact location, anything worth doing in Quebec is located in the old city.

Average stay in what I felt was a hotel in a rather isolated part of town. Not much really around the area; a few restaurants/bars and the odd coffee shop. The hotel itself is ok and does the job for a night's stay but I did find it felt somewhat cold and uninviting. The rooms are clean and functional but just don't feel very inviting or comfortable.
