I have been to the Prince of Wales many times now. To those who have never been, it is best described as walking back in time into an era where your comfort is of utmost importance to the staff from the moment you walk through the door. From the moment you arrive, you are instantly transported to a bygone age of elegance and romance. When the valet/bellman greets you at your car, your vacation begins and your worries disappear. Your luggage, now in capable hands, will be in your room when it's ready and your car is safely parked behind the hotel. If you arrive early, the Churchill Lounge provides a warm atmosphere in which to have a cocktail or a glass of red - complete with fireplace, coffered ceiling, wingback chairs and wood paneling. The quaint charm of Niagara-on-the-Lake's main street will keep you occupied for hours. If you have been shopping and don't want to carry it around, walk right back into the hotel and Jason, Jake or Jeff (bellmen/valet staff) will happily take your bags and assure you it will be waiting your room upon your return and encourage you to continue enjoying your day. The hotel will text you (if you arrive early like I always do) when your room is ready. You can now grab your key and enter your unique and tastefully decorated room to relax and enjoy the Victorian ambiance. The staff will also take note of your room preferences. Upon your return, they will try to ensure you get the type of room you enjoy. We like the rooms with bold colours. The one in the picture is room 184. A beautiful, moody red room with a balcony overlooking the park and a Japanese maple. Another favourite of ours is room 322. Gorgeous room with a sitting area, a fireplace and a huge four poster bed. And of course, the ultimate room....the Royal Suite (for those really special occasions). Regardless, your room will unique, beautiful, and have old world charm. This past May we stayed for my partner's 60th birthday and in our room was a bottle of sparkling wine and a lovely charcuterie board to snack on. A very thoughtful gift! The bed and linens were very comfortable, wifi is good and turn down service is a nice touch. There is also Nespresso coffee in the room, plush robes and slippers. In the lobby the next morning, Jason asked us what our plans were for the day and if we needed anything. After telling him were were off for a walk, he offered us bottles of water to take with us (it was a warm day). This is just one of the many examples of thoughtfulness that comes from a hotel who cares that you enjoy your time with them. Jason, Jake and Jeff are always amazing and always go out of their way to further enhance your experience. I will end by mentioning a few people not already commented on above. Thank you Krystina for thoughtfully remembering my name when I checked out. I was touched by that, especially given the hotel was fully booked. Thanks to Peter for greeting us with humour whenever we see you....and for sending up more coffee! And to the lovely Jill (Missy), who I missed on this last visit. I look forward to seeing you again on our next. I think it is clear just how much we admire this hotel and its excellent staff. To those who are on their way there soon....you lucky things. This is THE place to stay when in NOTL: it’s smack in the middle of the action, across the road from a wonderful park, just off the Main Street and has the most obliging and friendly staff who seem to be there just to make sure you’re enjoying yourself. No matter what the issue or question is, the POW team are on point and available to sort out and point you in the right direction. Our room was beautiful: old world and exactly what you’d expect from an old grand dame. It’s an indulgence but well worth it !

“Superb attention to details”

I had lunch outdoors on a wonderful late Spring afternoon. The food was as heavenly as the wait staff. It was well prepared and presented with style. The atmosphere of the building is as superb as was the cuisine. Thick wooden doors in rooms with wood panels. Craftmanship as it should be.
