From dealing with Dom on the phone in advance of arrival through our five night stay for a ski group event we found the staff pleasant and accommodating. Really enjoyed the boot dryers in the ski locker area. We were at the Mountaineer in a 1 bedroom with kitchen and laundry whose location allowed us eat in for lunch on the days we weren’t enjoying the delicious lunch and coffee at Double Black. We also had some nice meals in Golden as suggested by the hotel staff. Our first time to Kickinghorse and we were very impressed. The ski terrain and guides were world class but without the accompanying prices and crowds.

“They could do much better in maintaining the property and communication”

We chose this property because it was in the mountains, away from the city. We came in May as part of our drive through to Banff, so we weren’t there to ski. We chose this property because it was in the mountains, away from the city. We came in May as part of our drive through to Banff, so we weren’t there to ski. We arrived after 6pm, so it was self-checkin; no one around. The 2-bedroom condo assigned to us was poorly maintained, to say the least. We were there with 88-year old grandmother, and the dining room chair almost collapsed; it was so wobbly. Then we inspected the rest of the table and chairs and the chairs didn’t even fit beneath the table and the table swayed. The doors were badly dinged and damaged. The pilot light to the fireplace was not lit, so we couldn’t use the fireplace. The en-suite door (from her room) would not open unless the other door was closed, so she couldn’t access the bathroom unless she walked around to the other door. There was no kettle. The view was to the back parking lot, all dirt. I wish we had a room on the other side of the building, but there was no one around at check-in and the phone number went to a voicemail. The beds were comfy enough, but there were no bathrobes. Also, there was no extra bedding or blankets for the pull-out so my daughter and I had to share a bed. I had emailed ahead of time to confirm 3 adults and I have an email reply on Feb.14th confirming they knew 3 adults would be there. Lastly, my booking is with ‘Glacier Mountaineer Lodge’. According to the instructions you check in at ‘Glacier Lodge’ and the key envelope indicates it belongs to ‘Mountaineer Lodge’ with no information on where to find the parkade - it was confusing because we couldn’t park outside since we needed the elevator access for grandmother. We found it with the help of another lost customer. If this is the state of most rooms, I wouldn’t stay here again.

Nothing special really. It was about 13kl out of the town of Golden and all that we could find at the time. The reception staff were pleasant, but the whole place looked very dark and glum. I guess in the winter the atmosphere would be totally different. The room was OK and all shampoo, conditioner and body wash were supplied. No breakfast supplied
