Came here for the Edmonton full marathon but didn’t buy the basic marathoner package. Instead we paid only a bit more and bought the concierge king package for a long weekend (totally worth it). We didn’t have to wait in long line as other marathoners arrived, and were upgraded to a river view room where we were lucky to enjoy a full moon, rainbows, lightning and a fireworks show over the 3 night stay! The room itself was spacious….although strange there was no safe but a microwave on the middle of the writing desk! The room was a bit outdated but comfortable. Concierge club: very simple breakfast…choice of waffle/plain white bread, banana cake, yoghurt, apples, juice and brewed coffee/tea. If you are on the rush, you can also grab cereal bars and a coffee to go. Or you can choose to pay $11 (with discount from the club) for a very similar “buffet” breakfast downstairs, with 4 additions (eggs, fried potatoes, bacons and sausages)….if you are vegan or vegetarian, it is just the same as in the club. The club is however a lot more enjoyable with the view and less chaotic than downstairs especially if a big event is going on with a big group checked in. Staff are very friendly and polite especially Precious at the front desk, Ron the concierge downstairs, and the ladies in the club on the 20F. Thanks for your service! It enjoys a very convenient location downtown…close to all the restaurants on Jasper (a block North). We did ask a few hotel staff about going downhill to the river but none seemed to be sure. This was what we found out later FYI….To go down to the river bank, you go out of the hotel, turn right and walk towards the Marriott where you will see a funicular and then an elevator takes you down to the Louise Park….enjoy the nice walk and if you get to the Tawatina Bridge on the east of the hotel, you will enjoy a shaded stroll on top of the river and enjoy the artworks on the ceiling. There’s also a nice Chinese a garden at the beginning of the bridge, and the Muttart Conservatory on the other end of the bridge. Quite a good stay in this hotel, especially if you can get a river view room.

We had just left the Oilers game and were walking south in search of a taxi when we stumbled into the Chateau Lacombe and decided to have a late night snack and drink at the Bellamy Lounge. Nice spot with a great river valley view. My friend ordered a Cob Salad. I ordered a dozen Spicy Hot Chicken Wings. The service was fast and friendly. The food was good. The ambience was great.

“Good value with potential at Concierge level”

Based on some reviews I booked Chateau Lacombe with low expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised. With a few tweaks, this hotel could be deserving of 4 star. Based on some reviews I booked Chateau Lacombe with low expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised. With a few tweaks, this hotel could be deserving of 4 star. For a hotel rated at 3 1/2 stars, the lobby is impressive...clean and expansive. Parking was expensive... $25 but easy and elevator available. Downtown location is great. Thought the concierge was worth the price....$135 for regular room/$149 for concierge plus 2 drinks/appies and contintental breakfast. However the hostess in the concierge lounge seemed to retreat to the staff room but once you found her the free drinks available....wife's glass of wine was filled to the top, Big Rock Traditional was my beer. Appies were well picked over. But lounge had great view of river valley. Send staff over to Metterra or Varscona on how to use this hospitality hour to add class to hotel. Same for continental breakfast. The breakfast was a bust...toast or waffle were only offering of substance. No eggs, cereal, porridge etc. Plenty of yogurt and coffee/tea but you left hungry. Room was a step above ok. River View if available would put it over the top. TV badly needs a how-to/tip sheet. Had to go down to front desk, they sent up a maintenance staff who quickly navigated the prompts which had left me frustrated and feeling inadequate. Supper at Belamy Lounge was excellent, best salad I have had in a long time. Wife was quite happy with steak sandwich. Excellent craft beer on offer. All in all, I will be back.

“Wouldn’t go back”

The bed was comfortable, the Breakfast was decent .. the hotel itself was shabby, outdated and lacked basic amenities. The bed was comfortable, the Breakfast was decent .. the hotel itself was shabby, outdated and lacked basic amenities. Because we only stayed 2 nights, we didn’t get housekeeping so we had to ask for extra towels, coffee, shampoo, etc. I have mixed feelings about that, but whatever. It isn’t located super close to anything, we were unable to find bottled water. The front desk doesn’t sell it and instead referred us to vending machines on a few of the floors. Well, they were completely sold out! There aren’t enough plugs to charge today’s electronics, yet the room didn’t even have a clock.

I stayed here for one night after a 5 day canoe camping adventure so was looking for a little luxury and was also doing the half marathon the next day. The hotel rooms have been renovated and mine on floor 23 was exceptional. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom nicely appointed. Breakfast was ordinary by luxury hotel standards with limited offerings and surly staff. I had access to the club lounge which was nice with snacks and drinks and pleasant service. The view from my room was excellent. There were some frustrating aspects of this hotel which would probably make me choose somewhere else next time. The check in process was long and the queue almost out the door. The queue to the elevators was long. The television in my room kept going off line and needing to be reset three times. There is no room service.
