A busy tourist season saw the motel part of this golf haven having great rooms available when both Gaspe and Perce were booked up. Located midway between these towns, the rooms feature a mico wave oven & a bar fridge. The nearby golf club house restaurant provided fast food type meals as Covid 19 related income payments mean few people are motivated to labour in the hospitality industry anywhere in Canada at this time! The two ladies in the resturant and the two men at reception spared no effort to provide first class service .

Fort Prevel is a property located by the side of the Gaspe Bay which include a hotel, a camping, some cabins and a golf course. This establishment is roughly at a 25 minutes’ drive south of the town of Gaspe. There is no commercial activity around, any restaurants or stores. This is a calm and peaceful place. I booked my room for one night for 88$ per night, excluding taxes, in low season and in Covid time, directly on the Fort Prevel web site. The property This establishment is composed of many buildings of which the main building, where the reception office is, and another separate building, where the rooms are. So it is required to go outside to get from the reception to the rooms. A dozen of rooms are spread on two floors. The access to the reception is by a side door, which looks more like an emergency exit, leading to the golf pro-shop. This store also serves as the reception (maybe because of Covid?). There is a snack-bar and a dining area in the main building. This building has many other areas that seem to be abandoned and a main entrance which not used (maybe because of Covid?). The hotel is directly on the golf course. The property is not very well maintained. A pool seems abandoned for a long time. An outside terrace also seems to be abandoned. Weed is growing between the cobblestones of the sidewalks and of the terrace which gives a feeling of abandonment. Parking is free. At a two minute walk from the hotel there are remains of a world war two fortification which include bunkers, a network of tunnels and an abandoned canon battery. The site is peaceful (to be verified in high season). There is a nice view on the Gaspe Bay. The room There is no elevator to get to the rooms second floor and the stairs are outside. My room is small, with a carpet. There is no desk, but a small round table with two wicker chairs. This not ideal to work because this table is so small and because there are no power outlet near, if you need to plug a computer, for instance. The room is not well equipped. There are not closed closet. There is a small television and a coffee machine for pouches. The furniture is well maintained, without wear signs. There is no air conditioning, but a window can be opened. When I got there, the room was very hot, and it took at least an hour to reach a comfortable temperature by keeping the window and the balcony door open. There is a small balcony with a table and two chairs. The table is not very clean. The balcony provides a view on the property and on the Gaspe Bay. The bed is flabby and not very comfortable. The room is not very sound proof and I can hear sounds from the corridor and from the other rooms. The bathroom The bath room is rather small but clean. Very little space is available, no space around the sink and only a narrow shelf below the mirror. There is a shower in a bath. A liquid soap dispenser is available on the shower wall. Services The breakfast is not included in the room cost, but it is served in the main building snack-bar. It is served from 7 o’clock. I didn’t have the breakfast because I had to leave before that time. Wireless internet access (Wi-Fi) is free and excellent. The devil is in the details: - A room wall is stained. - The bottom of the balcony door frame is rotten.

This hotel was run by the provincial government at one point, then was closed, and is now privately owned. The place itself is fairly nice. We stayed in the auberge part, right next to the pool - that's been closed for a very long time judging by the height of the weeds growing between the cracks (taller than me). The motel part, which directly overlooks the bay, isn't open. The room itself was comfortable,very clean and well-maintained. We had the entire place to ourselves, until the only other occupants of a room arrived at 1am. Now, I believe that there are about 12 rooms on 2 floors in this section of the hotel. I would like to know why...when there are only 2 of the rooms rented for the night...why the hell would you put one party in room 101, and the ONLY other party in room 201??? They were noisy, but thankfully only for about 15 minutes. So yay for that. But seriously, put your guests at opposite ends of the hotel if you only have 2 rooms rented! On another note, I didn't play golf during this stay, but have played the course a few times in the past, when it was government-run. It was always an enjoyable course with great views, and fairly challenging. From what I saw it still appears to be in fairly good shape. Word of advice: make sure you eat prior to arriving if you're getting there after 5pm. The restaurant closes then and there is nothing closer than a 30-minute drive back to Gaspé. Which we had to do. Didn't try the breakfast. All in all, not a bad or unpleasant stay, but overpriced for what you get.

First of all I don't play golf. Booked this hotel only because I wanted a place on the shore and at the tip of Gaspésie to explore nearby towns and parks. First of all I don't play golf. Booked this hotel only because I wanted a place on the shore and at the tip of Gaspésie to explore nearby towns and parks. For the people playing golf it might worth it, I would not stay there again any soon. Location proved to be not perfect but acceptable. Couldn't find way to the beach but it was dark when I tried. Hit the fence and it looked like a cliff behind the fence. If there is a way to get to the water it's probably not a short stroll before you go to bed. Booked a room with ocean view. Ocean view was not great, water was too far and most of it behind trees, but still better than view on the parking lot I guess. Room was clean but looked old and in the need of renovation. No fridge or microwave. Old coffeemaker, CRT TV, old fan instead of A/C. .Not that we needed air conditioner - it was mid 20C but if weather got hot it might be a problem. There was no lid on the toilet which didn't please my wife. Breakfast was not included - there's a restaurant in the hotel but it sort of expensive. So for the money I paid I expected better place to stay. On the positive note staff was nice and it was quiet - no complains here.

We stopped here while cycling. It's almost exactly halfway between the towns of Gaspe and Perce. I reserved through the central call centre, whose staff was extremely helpful. We stayed in a cabin, which was spacious and comfortable, with a great view. The restaurant in the llodge was pleasant if generic. The service in the golf clubhouse "snack bar" was friendly and efficient. The one thing that we did not appreciate was the note that advised that we would be charged $75 if we failed to wash our dishes and empty our garbage. This after paying $240 for one night's stay.
