Personal exerience: I stood in the hotel for a whole month. Considering the low prise of the hotel in comparisson to other hotels in S.J. Dos Campos, the quality was really good! The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. The hotel is in a very safe and local point (so did we experience it). Since the hotel is located between two more or less busy roads, rooms at a higher level are benefitial. But generally the noise level is bearable (we stood there for a hole month).The location is close to the center of the city, where there are nice places to go during the day. At night one should be careful to visit some streets in the WIDER environment (i.e. center at buss station), though the DIRECT environment seem very safe also at night. There are several nice bars and clubs within a walking distance of 5-10 minutes. MAYBE a better location for a stay would be in Villa Ema. o/+ location + prize(o)/performance(+) + very friendly and helpful staff + room o noise Conculsion: If I would come to S.J. Dos Campos for the next time, it would be absolutely OK to stay in this hotel again! Just considering the location, good alternatives would be a place at "Villa Ema", which belongs to S.J. Dos Campos, or in Taubaté, which is a student city with a lot of night life approx. 30 car-minutes away.

“Fine place to stay in downtown Sao Jose”

We stayed for two weeks and found the room clean and comfortable (not luxury). The free breakfast was bountiful, room service was reasonable, and the staff was most helpful, especially since we speak little Portuguese. The wireless is not dependable, alas, and there is not heat--but there is no winter heating in most hotels. There are plenty of restaurants and good shopping within easy walking distance. Be sure to visit the cafe kitty-corner from the entrance for great cafe (Try the cheesy bread, too.). Be sure to visit the huge municipal park about 4 miles away, and it is worthwhile stopping in at the Aerospace museum near the airport. There is much to do here, but little has been written about it. I really do not understand why more Americans don't visit non-Amazon or Rio parts of Brazil!
