“Great family holiday”

We booked a VIP 6 person lodge for a family of 5. We stayed for a week a had a great holiday. The park is small (smaller than Woburn in UK) but great for younger children. Our children are 14,11 and 7 and they still had a great time. The play parks were a bit small for the older 2, they all loved the swimming pool and we used it every day. We booked family laser battle, badminton, bowling and indoor climbing centre all activities were well organised, staff very friendly and helpful. The petting farm was great and the children really enjoyed this even the teenager! Just a shame some parents are not supervising their children as some are too heavy handed and think it’s funny to chase them which then left it up to the staff to tell them not to. We went to De Hann town which is beautiful with a lovely beach. We visited Bruge for the day (choco story was worth a visit) we got a train from Blankenberge which was really easy and cheap! We found our accommodation fine, standards aren’t as high as Uk but the main areas were clean and comfortable. Accommodation was a little tired and a few things needed fixing but it was spacious and had a large area around it which is well kept with outdoor chairs and table, sun loungers and plenty of room for the children to play football. As part of the VIP you get hand soap, shower gel, towels and kitchen package. We also had delicious fresh bread rolls snd pastries delivered every day even our last day which was great, we had the pastries with breakfast and made the rolls up for lunch on days out. A lot of reviews mention the bedrooms being hot and uncomfortable due to being in the eves. We didn’t find they were hot (and we visited in August!) we left the windows open and just slept the other end of the bed so our heads weren’t under the eves! There was also a hoover so you can hoover through as needed. Belgium is a lovely country to visit and park De Hann is perfectly located to explore and only 50mins from Dunkirk ferry port!

Just finishing a 4 night 5 day stay here… Pros A lot more free activities for children and cheaper activities than UK Center Parcs. Soft play is amazing for the kids and free too. Little farm is really cute and the swimming pool is also great. Kitchen is basic but has plenty of self-catering equipment. Easy to leave the park if you wish (Aldi is 5 mins down the road) and we went for a day to Bruges which was also lovely. Cons - hope you are ready! Accommodation is nothing short of disgusting. Very basic, which I can deal with, but there is no need for them to be dirty. Clearly they are dog friendly as they smell of dog and there is hair all over the sofa, if you can call it that, it’s more like glorified garden furniture! The toilet absolutely stinks of old urine. The bathroom/toilet is downstairs. The windows are old wooden frames that are mouldy and gross. The bedroom is very basic, no mirror and 1 tiny window in the ceiling. Beams/eves everywhere covered with spiderwebs. Pillows are flat and lumpy. No broom/dust pan to sweep the floor downstairs and with a toddler we would have done this daily. Restaurants are mediocre. Supermarket is ridiculously expensive. Recommend going to Aldi which is 5 mins away. Center Parcs Belgium definitely need to take a leaf out of their overseas rivals in the UK. We went to Elveden back in May and can only describe that holiday as nothing short of perfection (I know some don’t agree but we had a great time). There is no wildlife here like in the UK which I think adds a bit of magic to your stay. This place is like Belgium Butlins and needs some serious cash injected into it to bring it up to a decent standard. I would rather pay the extra money and go to UK Center Parcs than return here. Sorry guys!
