Reading other reviews I wasn't expecting much, but it is a lovely place with pleasent staff and a great owner. The bowling alley down stairs is a great spot. Room was big with a comfortable bed The dining room has views up the valley and the mountains compared to the city centre ones. It is an old building with some history and odd lay out due to once being a private home. If you want a modern, bland, featureless place it is not for you. In this group we had a person who I would expect to write a bad review as the single room they booked didn't have a double bed, though the room was big enough to have one. They checked under the mattress and even checked, while we watched, what the dining tables were made of. Bar drinks were cheap and the food outstanding. plastic bags on window sill next to breakfast buffet so you could make a roll for lunch time. Would reccomend this place as very quiet position and within easy walking distance of town centre.

“Top class visit”

Had a wonderful time with my group at The Sonne, Landeck, Thanks to Lucas, Joseph, Janna and not forgetting host Karl. Typical Austrian hotel, very comfortable beds, food good, i have a dairy allergy , and they were great sorting this. The skittle alley, was a great find in the hotel, especially with the schnapps corner, Yum, Would definatley stay again, the views are wonderful over the Alps, and town.

“Clean economical hotel, friendly owner & staff”

Clean, simple rooms, unique old-time bowling alley plus a pool table, sauna & a small gym. The small bar seems popular with locals. Nice fireplace in lounge/dining area. Clean, simple rooms, unique old-time bowling alley plus a pool table, sauna & a small gym. The small bar seems popular with locals. Nice fireplace in lounge/dining area. Owner/manager is friendly & accommodating; sent some complimentary extras during our stay & tried to address issues as they came up. Decent breakfast of boiled eggs, ham, cheese, bread, fruit, cereal, yogurt, jam, tea/coffee. Same choices every day. WiFi is apparently being upgraded soon; definitely needed. Menu could be upgraded too: English descriptions were hard to understand; few/no options for kids & vegetarians; overall, the meals were average.

I stayed at this hotel for a week during February half term as a part of a ski-trip party. We were quite a large group with around 20 children and 5 adults. The hotel itself isn’t the most up to date and does smell quite strongly of cigarettes, however facilities here were excellent. There is a games room to play pool, there is an on-site bowling alley, a sauna and steam room as well as an area with panoramic windows where you can relax and catch a tan. The rooms were good, easily accommodating our students from twin rooms up to quadruples. All rooms had an en-suite bathroom or shower room and a TV. The beds were quite comfy too. There is a lift, ski racks and a boot room to store all equipment for the slopes. We had a full-board meal package as part of our stay and the food was generally good. Breakfast was a help yourself spread of cereal, bread, jams and hard boiled eggs. As we were out skiing all day lunch had to be packed in the mornings and consisted of a ham or cheese roll, chocolate wafers and a juice carton. Dinners were all 3 courses and for the meat eaters I would say very good. However for the vegetarians, vegans and halal meat eaters in the group perhaps not so good. However service at dinner (and pretty much throughout) was excellent. Boris, the service manager, worked extremely hard completing all dinner services on his own and ensuring that we were all happy with our meals. He also dealt with a number of queries we had swiftly and efficiently with a smile on his face always. The owner of the hotel was also lovely and popped in most mornings to check that we were being well looked after. Overall a very good stay at Hotel Sonne in Landeck, it definitely isn’t a luxury hotel but it’s character and attentive management make up for that.
