Stayed for 1 week, staff very friendly and helpful. Asked for south facing room (419) which had a splendid view onto the slope and large balcony (but is shared with room next door). Food in restaurant is very good, menu is varied and 5 courses every evening. Breakfast has a selection which copes for all needs. Boot room is amazing heated lockers, with escalator up to base of slope. Spa area is great, and outside pool a good size. Best boot room ever used. Would most definitely stay at this hotel again.

Outstanding location: one of the easiest and trouble free ski hire and lift access arrangements I have encountered. Located essentially in the same building structure as the first bubble with ski hire in the basement along with the Hotel’s vast and well appointed boot room. All these services and the ski lift are accessed via escalators; no stairs to lug your kit about or tempt the trip-up genie! Typical Austrian decor throughout and the usual Austrian set up for a dinner BnB guest with an allocated table for your whole trip. The food was great quality and you are unlikely to go hungry. The dining staff are friendly and efficient although at very busy times we noticed them under a little pressure. The separate fondue restaurant is an excellent choice for one of your meals (there is a very well worth it extra charge for this and you must book early as it is very popular). The rooms are well furnished with above average fitments. They are cleaned and reset to a high standard. My room looked over the home ski run and bubble affording delightful views. The spa with indoor and outdoor pools did not disappoint and my day three massage was very good. Mr Scheiber the current owner is also the Hotel’s GM. He made himself available to resolve an issue which arose in the bar area one evening before dinner. He listened attentively and resolved to attend to the matter, which he did so efficiently and courteously. This attention to the concerns of a guest was very reassuring. The matter having been resolved satisfactorily our trip went from strength to strength. Will most definitely return here.

I find myself in a rather ambivalent predicament regarding the overall experience. Therefore, in the spirit of 'saying it as it is' , I shall endeavor to delineate the genuine merits and demerits. Here's to hoping that the esteemed Shieber family, proprietors of said establishment, possess an appetite for unvarnished truth amidst the buffet of feedback. - Location Perfection: The hotel's strategic setup embraces all the essentials of a stellar ski retreat; from ski rentals to lift passes, all conveniently nestled under one roof. - Facilities Fantasia: Behold! A post-slope paradise awaits with a charming après-ski bar, a spa sanctuary boasting an array of indulgences, and architecture that befits the tyrolean environment -Breakfast Buffet: While the feast of European and Western delights tantalized the taste buds, alas, the omelette artisan, with a demeanor as sunny as a Siberian winter, left much to be desired. A gentle reminder of the importance of morning mirth may be in order. - Restaurant Revelations: Amidst the culinary crucible, Joseph shone as a beacon of hospitality, while some brethren exuded an air of aloofness and disrespect. Perhaps a reminder of the chain of remuneration. Customer pays the hotel , the hotel pays their wages.Ipso Facto be nice and accomodating to the customer . Their female counterparts seemed to extend a warmer embrace (phew!) Reception Royalty: Enter the guardians of guest gratification! Adorned with intellect and grace, these paragons of hospitality are the true jewels in the family's crown. so helpful and truly made up in spades for the others -Cleaning staff ( esp level 6) : With smiles as bright as freshly powdered slopes, Maria and her merry band of cleaners radiated warmth and efficiency, a daily dose of cheer amidst the humdrum. (Oh, if only the omelette debacle didn't cast a shadow...) - On to the bar keepers ; herein lay a tempest of ill-mannered antics from these important service providers . Further details abound ( should management wish to hear more) but suffice it to say, the conduct fell short of the standards expected in polite society. This hotel is not in-expensive ( by golly a gin and tonic @ AUD25.00) and so my standards will remain high. The location: Obergurgl is lovely. A small town with basic ammenities and very limited apre opportunities and the Edelweiss is well located with a great breakfast offering and nice ( not great) dinner options
