Great location. Lots within walking distance, shops, restaurants, cable car and some wonderful walks. Very relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and felt very comfortable with our two dogs. Cabin was clean and plenty of space (we had a larger cabin) although not so cosy to sit and relax a padded seat would be great. Beds very comfortable though. I am used to camping so kitchen not to difficult to work with! Pool area clean and enjoyed a dip on a particularly hot day after a huge walk. Would definitely visit Austria again and not hesitate in staying somewhere similar.

On the whole we were very pleased with the cabin-it was warm, spacious and comfortable. I think the assumption is made that you will eat out because the kitchen was the disappointment. We were prepared for the fact there were only 2 rings and a microwave, but I have never stayed anywhere without a draining board. It meant washing one item and immediately drying it. It was a very small work surface which meant that the plugs were very close to the sink and taps. There was basic equipment to produce a meal but some things were lacking-e.g. there was no chopping board. Usually in self catering you find some things left by previous occupants, salt, pepper etc but there was nothing-not even bathroom cleaner-so it is best to be aware. There were toilet rolls. There was always plenty of hot water and a very effective shower. It is in a nice quiet position with a 5-10 minute walk into the centre. We were able to leave our skis and boots in downstairs storage at the ski hire shop by the gondola and so we were quite happy to walk. There was free WiFi but not always easy to get a connection and very slow. You would need to ask for the password, I don't think it would be volunteered. We also got a second key when we asked because one key between a party of 6 out skiing would have been difficult. Take note of the times the supermarkets close because it was quite early. Although I have some criticisms I would be happy to stay again-overall the experience was good.

Just got back from a week skiing in Niederau stopping at the Almdorf Cabins. There were 4 adults and we had a 6 berth cabin to ourselves, which was very spacious. Just got back from a week skiing in Niederau stopping at the Almdorf Cabins. There were 4 adults and we had a 6 berth cabin to ourselves, which was very spacious. Only downside was the cooking facilities which consisted of 2 rings and microwave however we survived on packet mixes and eating out. Fresh bread can be ordered for 8am each morning which was great. A short 10 minute walk will put you at the bottom of the slopes. Our recommendation is if you are taking your own ski equipment pay 2 euros per night and store them at the Skiset Shop SKI & BOARD MARGREITER, which saves you carrying them backwards each day.

Have just returned from Niederau and the Almdorf cabins. If you want a ski holiday that is not restricted by time then this is the place for you. No gettting up early for breakfast or getting back in time for tea, makes for a really easy going holiday. The Almdorf Cabins are 10 min walk (up hill) to the main village centre which means they are nice and quiet in the evening. The owners are very uninstrusive, in fact we didn't see them from the moment we picked up the key! There are 2 supermarkets - if you turn right out of the complex and walk up the hill you will come to a small bridge over the river, follow the steep climb up and this will take you to the best supermarket - reasonable pricing and nice cafe with free WIFI!!!!and lovely views. There is also a Spar further down the road from this supermarket, but this has less variety and more expensive. There is also a pizzeria up there which does takeaway. The supermarkets close at 6.30pm so don't make the mistakes we made and got carried away with apres ski and ended up with no tea! The facilities in the cabin in terms of cooking are basic (microwave and 2 piece hob) and if you like a good sized cuppa in the morning bring a mug with you as they provide tea cups the size of thimbles! If you want something basic but hot to eat directly after skiing the Schnapps Hutte by the gondala is reasonable and the atmosphere and staff are brilliant. If you need ski school try the "blue school" near the Alpenland hotel - We had 3 days tution which was excellent. Our tutor Terry was patient, competent and had a great sense of humour, and having met other tutors this theme was replicated - so well worth a try. All in all a very happy holiday with plenty of snow, lots of apres for people in their late 30's and met loads of lovely like minded friends.
