I have returned to this hotel many times over the last 30 years and i've never been disappointed. The staff were always friendly and helpful. I stayed in the updated Sport hotel and the new room had everything i could need. They were cleaned daily and were spotless. The pillow was a bit flat and had feathers but after speaking to the cleaner the first morning she very kindly and quickly replaced with an allergy free one and brought an extra one. As always the food was very good and there was plenty of choice and the service was spot on. I use the pool alot which has been modernised since i was last there and really is nice. I'm not one for Saunas but i do like the solebad ( saltpool) which you pay for but you get it to yourself. The location of the hotel is good, on the main street and next to the Penken lift which whisks you to the top of the mountain with in 10 mins. With 4 valleys leading off from Mayrhofen theres lots to do and easy access by bus. Once again an excellent holiday thanks again to the Roscher family and all the staff. Already booked for next year.

My wife and I were very impressed with the Sport Hotel Strass. We stayed the 2nd week in September on the 4th floor of the modernised Sport Hotel. My wife and I were very impressed with the Sport Hotel Strass. We stayed the 2nd week in September on the 4th floor of the modernised Sport Hotel. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the valley and the room was nice and quiet. We were surprised that such a large busy hotel could offer such a personal efficient service. All the staff were very friendly and worked hard and a special thanks goes to Vania in the dining room who was an excellent waitress. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Being modernised I expected to see USB sockets, a basin in the toilet area in addition to the ones in the adjacent bathroom and air conditioning. The room was uncomfortably hot on the 29°C hot days we experienced and we had to have the patio window open at night. It was not an issue on the other days when unseasonal snow arrived in the valley! We were amazed how quiet the spa and sports facilities were which made the experience all the more pleasurable. The 17m pool was a nice temperature for swimming. It rarely had more than two people in it regardless of the time of day and there were no requirements for bathing caps or restrictions on bathing costumes. The spa had an upstairs sauna where costumes were worn which attracted the reserved English and there was a downstairs sauna where costumes were banned. A minor disappointment was that the whirlpool by the swimming pool was only the same temperature as the pool and therefore not very relaxing whereas the hot jacussi was downstairs. September seems to attract a lot of walking groups who had little time or inclination to use the sports facilities but the fact that they loved the hotel as we did shows that it is not just about the sports. If you like sports and a gym that is a bonus. Overall it was the most pleasing town centre hotel in the Alps we have ever stayed in.

Once more we stayed in our favourite friendly hotel here in beautiful Mayrhofen .. The hotel provides an excellent base for walking holidays, breakfast is varied and plentiful.evening meals are chosen in the morning, plenty to choose from the four courses, I could not manage the soup course. The rooms in the Strass are traditional, with a shower over the bath and separate toilet. There are lovely fluffy pillows and duvets for a good nights sleep. The hotel is next to the main Penken lift so very central.Rooms on the front can be noisy at weekends. Looking forward to returning again next year, thanks to all the friendly staff. John.
