We booked Pension Bergheil as part of a Crystal ski holiday. It was a lovely little pension, conveniently located for exploring Kaprun. The ski bus stop (bus 660 to Maiskogel, Zell am See and the Kitzteinhorn) were only a short walk (2-300m). The stop for the local town bus (also going to the Maiskogel and Kitzteinhorn) was just on the corner from the pension. Buses were frequent especially mornings and evenings. The pension was simple but provided all we needed for a bed and breakfast stay. Horst, the owner, was friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There was enough choice at breakfast (cereals, juices, rolls and bread, eggs, tea/coffee, jams, meats and cheeses). Horst would also cook eggs on request. The rooms were a little dated but were clean and cleaned daily. It was mostly quiet except for some noisy people in the outdoor pool in the hotel opposite (only one night). Kaprun was easy to traverse on foot and had a good selection of places to eat and drink. The pension also had a small ski and boot storage area and the boot racks were heated. All in all we would recommend Pension Bergheil as a place to stay and, should we return to Kaprun, would not hesitate to stay there again.

“Cosy Pension in great location ”

We booked through Crystal Ski for Christmas 2022: -Super welcoming owner -Cosy rooms with plenty of storage, great showers -Basic breakfast options but we expected this -Quiet at night, but only a short walk to all restaurants and bars -Good view of the glacier ski region from balcony -Boot & ski storage available, but we hired a locker by the Maiskogel gondala for the week - less than 10 min walk from Bergheil. You can either get the Maiskogel gondala and 3K connection to the glacier, or get a bus to Kitzsteinhorn then gondola up from there (less scenic but overall quicker!)

“Fabulous from start to finish ”

We have just returned from a week here and have had the most amazing time. Horst is friendly, kind, welcoming and is a great help with where and when to ski (based on the weather and skill level!). We have just returned from a week here and have had the most amazing time. Horst is friendly, kind, welcoming and is a great help with where and when to ski (based on the weather and skill level!). The pension is spotless and warm. The ski/boot drying room in the basement is great with a sauna available as well. We were in room 25 on the top floor at the front and had lovely views over the town and mountains. We found it to be a very peaceful place to stay. Breakfast was great and it’s location couldn’t be better. The nursery slope is just round the corner, a bus stop outside takes you to the Maiskogel and there is one a minute away to take you to the the glacier. All in all a great, relaxing holiday in a fab place with great hosts. Thanks, highly recommended and we will be back.

Great location. Village D bus 50m to right. Glacier and Zell am See bus stop 100m to left. Plenty of excellent local restaurants walkable. Great location. Village D bus 50m to right. Glacier and Zell am See bus stop 100m to left. Plenty of excellent local restaurants walkable. Room was clean, warm, spacious and quiet, if a little old fashioned. Breakfast was continental - range of cheeses, meats, boiled eggs on request, breads and cereals. Ski and boot room small but never busy. Sauna was available on request but we didn't try it. Owner was very helpful and pleasant.
