This is a friendly and relaxed family-run modern and stylish hotel that makes a refreshing change from the other typical hotels in the area. We stayed for 5 nights in June 2023. Our room 203 (Arx Suite 35) had a sofa and floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the mountains. The hotel website photos suggest an uninterrupted mountain view, but there’s actually a main road in front with the mountains behind, however it’s still a pretty impressive location. Despite the heat during our stay the room remained a pleasant temperature which was a relief since, like most other hotels, there is no air-con. The room had a large bed, comfy pillows, and a good sized bathroom with double sinks, a decent shower and soft towels. The location is quite some distance from Schladming town centre (too far to walk) and a rather steep 30-min uphill walk on foot to the Hochwurzen cable car (or 6 mins on the bus) so we were totally reliant on the local bus service to go anywhere as we didn’t have a car. The self-service breakfast was almost overwhelming with everything you could possibly want and more - a very generous spread. Dinner is an optional 3-course set menu at €39 p/p - the food was very good fine dining and great service, however this was only available for 3 of the 5 nights we were staying, so we had to eat elsewhere (we favoured the Tauernalm next to the cable car as the last bus was at 6.30 then it was an easy downhill walk back to the hotel). Like all other hotels in and around Schladming during summer, we were given a free ‘sommercard’ by the hotel which gives you a daily free ascent/decent on the cable cars and free travel on all local bus routes which is a huge money saver. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

“We came only for 2 nights and find…”

We came only for 2 night, and find…a fabulous hotel!!! Very nice atmosphere, wonderful view from the room 204 on Dachstein, super food, very rich breakfast with every day surprise:) The personal of hotel was very kind, professional and helpful! Definitely will come back again!

“fine hotel with an excellent restaurant!”

Arx hotel is a nice small boutique hotel located in the famoous Schladming ski area owned by Anna Veith, a former olympic medaillist. Arx hotel is a nice small boutique hotel located in the famoous Schladming ski area owned by Anna Veith, a former olympic medaillist. The hotel consists of comfortable beautifully designed rooms but the real beauty of the hotel lays in its restaurant. Arx is latin for summit. In the Arx restaurant you will reach the summit of your senses! Everiyevening we were served a four-course menu and every evening we were flabbergasted! If a good holiday means good food for you, this is defenitely a place you should consider.
