Imperial Renaissance

“Gorgeous brand new hotel”

We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Imperial Riding School. Although it's a little outside of the city center, it was about a 15 min walk or easy tram ride to the central parts of Vienna. This property is brand new and just lovely - great staff and delicious breakfast.

I was a bit disappointed to be honest. I was expecting a very grand hotel but this was like a business hotel in the AC or Aloft category of Marriott. The room we had was small and stuffy. Sadly, it was the worst room we had during our 2 weeks where we stayed at properties of Radisson, Hyatt and Marriott even. The hotel had only one restaurant and there were hardly any eating joints in the vicinity. Plus, it was a bit away from the old town of Vienna. On the plus side, their only restaurant/bar was lively as most hotel guests came here for a drink or a bite and they had the Euros being screened. The restaurant staff were really amazing and friendly as we would expect from a Marriott property. In general, the hotel staff were nice and kind of made up for what the property lacked.

“New Property, Nice Stay, A few minor issues”

Nicely remodeled and redesigned hotel. Felt very much like being in one’s home rather than a hotel. The hotel recently reopened after a lengthy remodel from what was a Renaissance hotel to an AC hotel under Marriott. As such, they were still working through some things in terms of staff and service quality - mostly seen at the front desk as well as in the restaurant.on check in there were little things here and there that were missed, including recognizing my elite status. The benefits at this property were not explained. Nor was there any mention of any upgrade for my level. I had paid a little extra for a “view of the church” behind the hotel - I wouldn’t bother… wasn’t worth it. Hotel room was nicely designed. It had a small banquette style couch with round work table in addition to the bed and other furniture. The bathroom was nice. Toiletries were communal. Towels were white and fluffy - I’d hope so for a recent reopening. Air conditioning was fairly weak the entire time - it claimed to go down to 16 degrees Celsius but never got close. WiFi was ok. Therle was a safe in the closet for valuables as well as an iron and ironing board. Not many choices of English language TV channels or programs if you need that - the controls to check if there were English dubbing or versions worked on a handful of stations. The restaurant for breakfast had some interesting fresh juices. Other than that, it was your typical breakfast buffet type offerings. Eggs could be requested to order. They did not know how to make an iced coffee or iced latte. A shame. Some of the wait staff was overzealous and trying too hard. They were hovering and practically took plates away as you were still eating off of them. Some training still needed there. Location was okay. Not immediately downtown, but everything was a short Uber trip away. There were a few other small mess up with service but I suspect those will be fixed. Overall it was a nice stay in a Comfortable hotel and I would stay there again.

This hotel was beautiful when I first walked in however my next impression brought it down. The receptionist was arrogant and unhelpful which was quite surprising it almost felt like I bothered her. After that we went to our room which was nice. The pool area and sauna was nice and the staff there were friendly. The restaurant experience yet tasty is a must the staff there was wonderful especially the manager. The cocktails were great! However what brought this rating down to 3 stars was when we requested robes and a dirty towel came with them it was gross… Overall for the price I payed I do not think it was worth it! 2.7/5
