What a terrific hotel in Vienna! Within easy walking distance to the center of the old city, on a streetcar line, and across the street from the famous Cafe Schwarzenberg. Also about a mile walk to the Belvedere Palace and Gardens. The concierge and wait staff in the Hotel Imperial are very very attentive and helpful. We stayed at the hotel for 7 nights during Xmas 2024. At the last minute we decided to take a roundtrip day trip to Salzburg via train. The young man at the concierge desk helped us book our tickets. He explained everything to us: the times, the number of the train, the number of the particular car, and our seat assignments. The wait staff at the Cafe Imperial (in the hotel) where we had breakfast every morning were very accommodating. The breakfast buffet -- while not the best I've ever encountered -- was more than enough! Plus you can order hot food from the menu. An added treat was a concert in the bar on Christmas Eve (included in the room price) followed by a multi-course Xmas dinner in one of the grand dining rooms (booked in advance of our stay). Our corner room on the 5th floor -- 502 -- was also very good. It has a large bathroom with easy to use shower, plus a bathtub, and his and her sinks. Still water in environmentally friendly glass bottles was provided every night. My only 'complaint' about the Hotel Imperial: I wish they had more US-friendly channels on the TV. We mostly watched CNN, BBC, and the English-speaking channel from France. This is possibly the best Marriott property I've ever stayed in. Would definitely return if we find ourselves in Vienna again.

Honestly, I'd probably give this a 4.5 out of 5, but I rounded up to 5. Location wise, it's pretty good, but still maybe a 15-20 minute walk to the main tourist part of the city. On checkin, we got there at like 5 PM, and there was some sort of issue with our room being ready. It took the staff like 10 minutes to sort it out, and then we were given a very nice room. So all's well that ends well, but after a long travel day, it's not a good first impression for there to be a problem with getting into our room on time. Our room was very nice, and the hotel itself is opulent as you can see from the pictures. Breakfast was "ok". Service was a bit slow, and the food was pretty basic. The hotel was also very crowded at this time of year, so it felt like there were tour groups coming in and out. The hotel bar was charming, very beautiful space, and you could reserve. They also had a piano player, that was so nice. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night, and that was very nice also. The one quibble with the restaurant is they don't have many tables for 2, and some of them are like half-tables that are very cramped. All in all, I enjoyed staying here, but I might look around at other hotels next time.
