We have had an outstanding experience at Sonngastein. Truly exceeded our expectations. The hotel is rustic-chic, such that you find the mountain-resort-themed faux-fur embelished benches, but also the business-friendly leather couches corner where unavoidable emails can be peacefully addressed. There is a generous room catering for winter sports, designed with such meticulosity and comfort of guest in mind. The restaurant is elegant and comfortable, the service comendable, and the food wowed us literally every single day. There is also a lovely, low-light, cosy and romantic bar, with a generous list of cocktails we might enjoy even more extensively when we go without children :) Speaking of which, the play area is huge, like a hangar, with options for all ages. The split level hosts table tennis, air hockey and other games, while on the ground one may play football, basketball, jump on the trampolines, build a fort or pedal around on various vehicles :) The tennis courts were very well kept, as were the sauna and pools. The outdoor hot pool was the highlight of our ten day stay. We went there for skiing, and it was a great choice, but I can say we had just as much fun at the hotel in the evenings. And we only saw the indoor attractions :) it appears outside there are some great options as well. All in all, a very worthwhile choice, and we have a lot of experience traveling. It is a family business and this shows in the attention to detail and personal touch. We were sad to leave :)

“Great ski holiday hotel for family with kids”

Very nice hotel with excellent staff. The kids facilities are one the best I have ever seen and the food esd perfect. The location is a bit distanced from the ski slopes 10 min drive but the hotel offers free of charge a shutle to and from the nearest ski slope.

The hotel is very clean, good food. Nice heated outdoor pools , nice playground.Many options for skiing. The rooms are spacious wirh large balconies Indoor and outdoor tennis court. Large room for sky equipment. Owners involved în the business.

We were a group of 3 families with 9 children aged 7-13yrs. We absolutely loved our quiet ski week here and it is immediately clear why guests return year after year. We hope we will too. The Zitka family (owners) are immensely proud of their hotel, they are visible in the hotel every day, approachable, and check in with guests very regularly. We made an error in our ski booking which they worked hard to rectify with us so that the holiday could be stress free. A big highlight is the kids playroom. It’s on a scale like no other and it was fabulous to have facilities that catered so well to teens as much as younger kids. Best games area we have seen throughout Austria. The indoor tennis courts are very high standard. The staff overall are superb. The food was very good. The menu is served to the table with some themed buffet evenings throughout the week (strudel buffet was a treat!) and whilst initially it might seem more limited for the children than some other hotels, the staff were very helpful in tweaking it for us to meet all children’s needs eg, our vegetarian child was well catered for once we let them know. Bravo Sonngastein!
