“Great hotel. Great location”

We found everything about this hotel made this a great holiday. The service, the staff, the location and the views. Close to the city as well as restaurants and bars (on the river), tram lines and Rod Laver (we were there got The Killers concerts). We will be back.

This is a five star hotel with four star service. It started with booking and getting a different rate each time I looked. The free breakfast “BANDB” special cost A$200 more than a room without breakfast. Our room was huge and lovely but the hotel doesn’t seem to realize guests have cellphones. There were no free plugs by the bed. To plug in a phone we had to move the nightstands and my wife had to unplug her lamp. Our standard 3 prong adapter wouldn’t work in their 2 prong plugs by the bed and it took all day to get an adapter from the hotel. It took 3 tries and 24 hours to get a second luggage rack. When I asked for maid service but not to have the towels and sheets changed (for environmental reasons) we had no maid service at all. This is such a nice hotel it’s a pity they fell short. The location is the best possible—much nicer than the CBD and equally convenient as the CBD is a quick walk across a pedestrian bridge.

“Great location and beautiful entrance.”

Great location and a great venue for Christmas. Service very good however not a place to go if wanting a quiet retreat in the city.

We were very pleased at the great staff who gave us a comfortable 20th floor view over the pool sun beck and river view. Most room windows do not open.Our arrival after a very long flight made easy by excellent door and reception staff. The 4 huge lifts/elevators are excellent. The demolition/building site next to the rear/side of the hotel was still making noise in December and it will clearly continue for many months I requested a room far from it and got one. The over large lobby grand stair looking gaudy with Christmas decorations has very few seats so to find anywhere quiet it would be best to have a Club room which we did not.However I don’t think breakfast is offered in the club. Our room was well serviced but why clean dressing gowns were removed (and not always replaced) so often making unnecessary laundry I don’t know. The bath had no safety handle and no nearby shampoo. The shower had no internal light nor mixer tap. Air con was a bit noisy. The worst parts of the hotel have to be the joined up afternoon tea space which impinges on the walk in dining area/bar area which crowds towards the dreary Melba dining area. We ate 9 very dull breakfasts little changed day to day and frequently the scrambled eggs would set solid. Hot food was cheap, the juice machines very popular with some and decent pastries. The Melba looks so dated and the food so average I would never use it again. Our Christmas buffet charm free and table decorations missing. The pool is not large and being open very warm.No poolside shower and steep pool ladders. Outside loungers popular. The hotel was very busy in December, without a lot of money being spent on improving it I will not return.
