“Good, clean accommodation, value for money”

Stayed in single room with shared bathroom. Perfectly adequate, clean and hygienic, space for clothes, a tv and desk. Rooftop lounge is a nice space to relax. Friendly reception. A bit of a walk to the CBD but manageable even for my older legs.

They say you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone, and it’s surely applicable for this Hotel/Hostel. I booked a queen room with an on-suite bathroom and it was great! First of all, the reception is manned 24/7 so no matter how late you are, you will be able to check in! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, so you really feel right at easy as soon as you check in with them. Right at the beginning they pointed me towards all the perks the space hotel offers, with my absolute favourite being the rooftop area which grants you an incredible view over Melbournes skyline!!! Now back to the room! It was decently sized so you could still move around freely. The bed was super comfy, and a second blanket was provided (already in the room) if needed. There was also great Airconditioning that could be adjusted as needed. Another great thing was a little desk area with an electric kettle and cups and some tea! Last but not least, there was also a huge TV in the room, which was very nice as well. The bathroom was kind of huge, with a nice big shower with good water pressure and two little complimentary soaps. Around the sink and on the windowsill I had enough room to unpack all of my stuff. A hairdryer was also provided. There were many other little things that certainly made this stay feel safe and comfortable, while also feeling very modern and practical. I’d recommend every young traveler this hotel, since it serves as a great hub for sightseeing.

I booked a single room at the Space Hotel - to be clear it is a hostel rather than a hotel. My room was small but had everything I needed. It was clean, the bed was comfortable and the view from my window of the cityscape was stunning. There is a fair bit of noise that comes from the halls and the road - so I highly recommend having some earplugs. The bathrooms were shared and kept relatively clean. It was a bit tricky in the morning getting a shower as there were only a few, and all were in high demand. The kitchen was very packed and busy which I found to be a bit intimidating as a more introverted individual. The fridges were also very packed. The reception staff were nice and helpful. You can go to the top floor and look out across the city which is very beautiful, recommend if you're staying there to do so! They offer a free breakfast - but only on Sundays. The location was pretty good, on the edge of the CBD, opposite the Old Gaol (old prison museum) which is worth a visit, near to Carlton Gardens and the Melbourne Museum, and not too far from the Fitzroy end of town. If you're looking for a budget stay in Melbourne, this is a great option.
