A good, clean hotel just what I needed after a long haul flight. Shuttle service from just outside arrivals is quick and efficient. Check in easy even when you are so jet lagged you can’t remember your name! Bedrooms are really big and the bed was amazing after sitting cramped on a plane that felt like decades. This hotel is a great recovery stop.

It's so easy to get to the Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport, a shuttle service is available to/from the terminal. It's so easy to get to the Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport, a shuttle service is available to/from the terminal. Check-in and check-out is always a breeze, the rooms are huge, clean and well maintained for such a classic building at Tullamarine. The breakfast selection on site is pretty decent. The best part about this IHG property is the staff. Its the team here who always make my stay here memorable.

The staff were very pleasant at check in and the cocktail I had in the bar was so very nice! Despite all the roadworks around the hotel, the room was super quiet. Bed very comfy, I BYO pillow as not fond of theirs. The bathroom always makes me nervous, the shower over bath is precarious for us elderly. We didn’t dine here at night but we had a quick breakfast at 5.30am before an early flight. Unfortunately it was lukewarm at best. Normally I choose from the egg menu but we didn’t have time for that. Yes you can walk to the terminals (Qantas being the easiest), but the shuttle is the better option. Would I stay again? Probably at some point in the future. I always seem to return as it delivers the most important aspect, quiet room, nice bed and good nights sleep.

Check in and check out interactions were great with friendly, helpful staff and no waiting. Room was comfy and the plumbing all worked. so far, great. But then we come to the restaurant. Food came for everyone else in our party of eight - except mine. After the last dish was served, one of the waiters asked what I had ordered and headed for the kitchen, so I assumed that he would bring mine quickly. Nope. After watching the others enjoy their dinners and conversation for seven or eight minutes, we actually left the table to track down the server who had taken our orders. She seemed surprised to find that my food had never arrived and headed for the kitchen. After a few more minutes, meaning that everyone else was halfway through dinner, mine finally showed up. It wasn't cold, but it wasn't hot either, indicating that it had been sitting back there for a while. Needless to say, I was scarfing down food trying to catch up with the others – not exactly a pleasant dinner experience. Then came the even more frustrating part. No one, and I mean no one, acknowledged or apologized for the poor initial service. No one stopped by to ask if everything was OK. In fact, no one ever came back at all, even to ask if we wanted dessert ormore drinks. It was obvious that no one really cared; we had our food and they were done with us. Not at all what I expect from an IHG / Holiday Inn. So if you just want a place to stay, this is a good one. But if you're thinking of a meal and a pleasant dining experience, look elsewhere.
