This was a very convenient and pleasant hotel to stay at in Melbourne. I struggle to walk a lot so being right on the free tram stop was helpful. The staff, especially the concierge’s were very helpful. Dinner at otties in the hotel was delicious and medium priced. Breakfast was a part of the package and the variety was great but the food wasn’t as hot as it should be. They will do eggs for you as well as the buffet. Our room was small but we were fortunate to get a lovely river view which made it special

We arrived very early at the Crowne Plaza, and I was expecting that we wouldn't be able to check-in early as I had requested an early check-in prior to our arrival, and I was advised by the hotel "The only way to guarantee early arrival is to book for the night prior"! However, as it turned out, we were able to check-in early without incurring any additional fees. Customer service was very good upon our arrival at the hotel, and the room we were provided with had a lovely view overlooking the river (although the windows were very grubby and in need of a good clean). The room we had was a "standard room" located on the 5th level and we were able to hear the trams and traffic noise below, and also noise coming from the room above us on the next level! The room had the basic amenities you would expect; the 2100 watt hairdryer worked well but had a tendency to easily change from hot to cool air, which I found annoying, bath robes weren't provided, and there was no bottled water in the room (we had to request water via the QR code in the room, and of course, there was a cost associated with that) although customer service was very quick in providing us with the water. The windows had both privacy and block out drapes which worked well and kept out the street lights at night. Buffet breakfast is available in Ottie's within the hotel (at an additional cost), although I found the buffet breakfast was basic and Ottie's is also open in the evening for dinner.

I've stayed here several times on business over ten years ago and it was surrounded by building work every time I've been including this latest visit. However it wasn't really noticeable in our 10th floor suite which was lovely and had fantastic views of the Yarra. There was some noise from service areas close to the room and noise from the railway. Breakfast is manic especially when an airline crew turn up all together (which seemed to be almost every day) and it didn't help when Breakfast items were moved to different locations ( cereal for example) each day. We wouldn't recommend breakfast here. The pool is in the middle of the building outside. Not great. So why stay here? It's in a prime location with everything in walking distance and public transport links outside the door. It's clean and well maintained and all the staff are kind and very helpful. When the building work is completed I'm sure the ratings will improve.
