We decided to book Chateau Yering on a whim, on the day, for a last minute getaway. I had always wanted to stay there and I was not disappointed! I have been lucky enough to enjoy some of the most luxurious hotels and resorts the world has to offer… Chateau Yering was every bit as beautiful, peaceful, grand and enjoyable in its own unique way. I cannot understand the bad reviews here… for those expecting the polish of The Ritz Paris and the absolute epitome of 2024 technology and luxury, it is not, but what it is, is a majestic old dame that rests peacefully in its’ surrounds of the casual country of the Yarra Valley. The property is full of grandeurs, olde world charm, character and possibly best of all, completely unpretentious. The building is truly remarkable and not overdone or bastardised by unsympathetic renovation. You really feel you are stepping back in time! The staff are so warm, welcoming and friendly, very knowledgeable about the history and the area. They couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome and comfortable, with special mention to Stefan who really looked after us. We dined in the restaurant and had 2 courses plus canapés - the food was of exceptional quality (compliments to the chef on the lamb!), the service was again warm, relaxed and local. Not at all stuffy or pretentious, however felt as if we were teleported to another era, like dining in the titanic! Such a lovely intimate ambience with tables amply spaced for privacy. We stayed in the Martin Room, overlooking the central lawn on the ground floor before moving to the Hill View suite, upstairs overlooking the mountains with a spacious balcony. The upstairs suite had a separate living area and a spa bath… however I was not unhappy with the Martin room and would have no hesitation in booking this lower room category again, which was almost as spacious and also fitted with a claw foot bath. It had a lovely feel and it was nice to step out onto the lawn. The suite was stunning and far bigger if you were needing more space and enjoy waking up to stunning views. Beds in both rooms were like clouds and we both had a sound and comfortable sleep. Breakfast in the conservatory was light, bright and one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had! If only we could have stayed a second night… There is really not much to critique. Sure, some could say it’s tired but I think its authentic, romantic and all part of the charm! It could be slightly more attended to in terms of the gardens, tennis court and to see the mid century pool up and running with some white umbrellas etc… but really, what more could you ask for in a relaxing country weekend away? Nothing if you ask me. It was simply a pleasure and a privilege. Thank you Stefan, Phil and team for making the stay so memorable. We will be back and I plan on booking a room for my parents upcoming wedding anniversary! - Jasmine and Rhys, Toorak.

“Perfect couples stay complete with fabulous Sunday dinner to ourselves in the blue room.”

We had a beautiful 2 night stay at Chateau Yering. Lovely room, great ambiance and history. The breakfasts were delicious. The highlight of our stay was our dinner in the blue room, all to ourselves with the fire lit and lovely staff. Perfect

*A warm welcome on our arrival by Stephan, hotel manager. Despite arriving early, he promptly checked us in and assisted and guided us to our room which he made available. * Rooms were very clean and the beds extremely comfortable. * Dinner was superb, thanks to Philippe, and Peter, the excellent chef. They were so helpful in adjusting the food order to meet our dietary requirements and cooking it to perfection. * Despite having stayed at Chateau Yering on many an occasion, this was the most helpful and friendly team encountered. * Highly recommended accommodation, but requiring some tender, loving care for the for the infrastructure in the near future.

“50th birthday celebration”

Booked table of 6 for my wife’s 50th birthday celebrations! Lovely venue, fairly busy but service was excellent! Started was amazing main course a little disappointing - majority had beef cheeks and it was a little fatty. Limited menu choices too! But overall it was a good night
