“Novotel hotel in a good location in Cairns.”

Nice Novotel hotel in a good location in Cairns, next to the Aquarium and very close to the Esplanade and the bay. Hotel room size is good, bed is nice, parking is free, and the swimming pool is very good. This hotel should be considered if you’re staying in Cairns.

We stayed at Novotel Cairns for 14 nights over Christmas and new year. We attended Christmas lunch and the new years bbq and both were absolutely amazing. Breakfast was great and our kids adored the pancake decorating table. A huge shout out to Mel who was there most mornings, hosting. She made the kids and our days always bright and the kids are still talking about her now we are home. Another mention has to go to Taylor from the VIK club. She engaged with kids and was an absolutely blessing. There wasn't a bad staff member to be found but those 2 really stood out. The room had a great location and was cleaned amazingly every day. We are already planning our next holiday here.

We had a lovely time at this hotel. The location was the best part to downtown Cairns. Cleanliness is excellent Cheerful Janet worked her magic. Hotel lobby impressive. Mel at breakfast was friendly and impressive. She never stopped and attempted to politely control children who ran about like they were at the zoo. Parents too busy on the phones as children dropped food everywhere. Pool sunbeds need replacing. They are like something from the 1970’s. One hour is too long and you’d need a chiropractor if stayed longer. Allowing children to drink and eat near the pool is ridiculous. Mess is just left. The same absent parents were still absent. The pool bar bartender (tall, white bald guy ) is so slow, rude and does not appear happy in his job. Polite suggestions a pool person to attend to the pool preventing someone choking in the pool. Towels given at the pool area. Queueing in the lobby wet returning towels whilst people checking in..🤦‍♀️ I have never heard of it. Just seemed crazy. Rooms comfortable and very clean.

Staff apart from Mel were rude. Check in was horrid. I was given no information about the hotel even after asking where and the time of breakfast. My room wasn’t ready and I went to the pool. I was treated with distain when I tied to pay for a horrid toasted sandwich and a drink with my card rather than room charge. Oh and my Accor plus card was not accepted! I asked the easiest way to get to the esplanade and was given a map without explanation. Room is clean, shower screen leaked and bed while comfortable was noisy. I Di not enjoy the pizza I had at the resort and chose to eat out. Will return? Probably not just due to the lack of customer service .
